Graeme Swann destroys Stuart Broad with savage reply over questioning Ollie Pope's lbw dismissal

Former England cricketer Graeme Swann took a brutal dig at Stuart Broad for questioning Ollie Pope’s lbw dismissal during the ongoing second Test against India. The match is taking place at the Niranjan Shah Stadium in Rajkot and hangs evenly poised after Day 2.

After the Indian innings ended with 445 runs, England were off to a brisk start. Zak Crawley (15) and Ben Duckett (133*) added 84 runs for the opening partnership. After the right-hander got out, Ollie Pope walked out to bat and played a decent hand as well for his team

But his stay at the crease by cut short by Mohammed Siraj, who set the batter perfectly. The fast bowler bowled 5 short balls on the trot and then pitched one up that outfoxed the batter. He bowled a sharp inducker that tailed back in from a length and Ollie Pope tried to play the flick.

The batter was hit above the knee roll and the loud appeal from the Indian team was turned down by umpire Joel Wilson. It seemed that the ball would be missing the stumps on height but Mohammed Siraj convinced captain Rohit Sharma to take the DRS.

The DRS showed three reds and the Indian team were elated. Ollie Pope played a decent innings and added 93 runs for the second wicket with Ben Duckett. The batter ended with an innings of 39 runs off 55 balls. He looked absolutely dejected after he got out.

As Ollie Pope got out, Stuart Broad raised his concerns over the decision. He said that it seemed that the ball was high and it shouldn’t have been out. Taking to his X account, he stated: “Looks high to me for 3 reds”.

Graeme Swann however, didn’t go easy on Stuart Broad for his comments on the Ollie Pope’s dismissal. He took a brutal dig at the former England pacer, stating that when the fast bowler used to get the nick while batting, he used to think he was not out. He replied:

“You used to nick it to slip and not think you were out mate.”

After Ollie Pope’s wicket, Ben Duckett puts England in a dominating position

After Ollie Pope got out, Ben Duckett took charge and made sure that England ended Day 2 on high. The batter looked very promising right from the first ball he faced and played an attacking brand of cricket, taking his team off the flier.

Ben Duckett brought up his third Test ton and put India under immense pressure. He made sure that England scored quickly and went past 200 runs on the board. He remained unbeaten at 133 and put the team in a dominating position. At stumps on Day 2, England were 207/2 and are just 238 runs behind.

England would want Ben Duckett to bat in a similar way as he did on Day 2. He would be crucial for the team in ending the deficit. The batter himself would want to double his score and help his team take a first-innings lead in Rajkot.
