GT vs CSK: Gujarat Titans to don special lavender jersey against Kolkata Knight Riders; Here's why

Gujarat Titans (GT) will be donning a special lavender color kit for the game against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. The match between the teams will take place at the Narendra Modi International Stadium in Ahmedabad on 13th May. 

The game against Kolkata Knight Riders will be the last home game for Gujarat Titans in the ongoing Indian Premier League. The team would be keen to make an impact in what will be a special game for them which will signify the importance of early detection and access to quality care for improving outcomes in patients with cancer.

Gujarat Titans sported the lavender color jersey last year as well for the same cause related to cancer. The franchise confirmed the development on their social media account and stated that wearing the kit will showcase the commitment of players to fight against cancer. They stated: 

"The Gujarat Titans are taking a stand against cancer, stepping onto the field donning special lavender jerseys for the second year in a row. The players will showcase their commitment to the fight against cancer during their final home game on May 13, 2024. This gesture will serve as a reminder of the importance of early detection and access to quality care for improving outcomes in patients with cancer."

Gujarat Titans COO, Colonel Arvinder Singh also talked about the gesture of his team, saying that the jersey will be the symbol of their support to cancer patients. He added that the gesture would create a meaningful difference. He added: 

"Cancer affects countless lives, and the lavender jerseys are a small gesture on our part to the cause. The jerseys are a symbol of our support to cancer patients and survivors, serving as a reminder about the need for preventive measures and early diagnosis to win the battle against cancer. Together with our fans, we hope to create a meaningful difference in the lives of those affected by cancer." 

GT skipper Shubman Gill also spoke about the team's gesture to wear the lavender color jersey and stated that they realize the importance of social responsibility as a sportsperson. He believes that by the team's gesture, they can create awareness about cancer. He added: 

"As sportspersons, we are aware of our social responsibility to our fans and the community at large. Wearing these lavender jerseys unites us with cancer fighters and honours their courage. Together, we hope that our efforts will contribute to a world where the burden of cancer can be overcome through awareness and education."  

Gujarat Titans having a tough time in IPL 2024 

Gujarat Titans are having a tough time in the ongoing Indian Premier League. They are last on the points table and their chances to qualify for the playoffs look second to none. Even though they are still in contention, they look like least favorites for the sport. 

Gujarat Titans failed to replicate the same as they did last year. Under the leadership of Shubman Gill, they have failed to play a good brand of cricket. In the 11 games, they have managed just 4 wins. They would be hoping to win their last few games and give joy to their fans.
