Cricket commentator Virender Sehwag praised Mumbai Indians pacer Akash Madhwal for his match-winning spell against Lucknow Super Giants in the Eliminator match of IPL 2023. Sehwag also feels that it will not be possible for others to replicate Madhwal’s bowling figures in IPL 2023.

While speaking to his fellow commentator Murali Kartik on Cricbuzz, former India opener Virender Sehwag lauded Akash Madhwal for an outstanding bowling show in the previous game. He also said that it would be impossible for anyone else to register a bowling figure of 5/5.

“I would give 11/10 marks if I could to Madhwal. The way he set up Badoni and then got him dismissed, was absolutely brilliant. The kind of figures Madhwal has registered, picking up five wickets for just five runs, I don’t think it’s possible for anyone else to replicate it again,” said Sehwag.

“His skiddy nature has led to Badoni’s wicket as he thought he would pick the back of the length ball but was beaten for pace. He is a thinking bowler and definitely has a future,” Sehwag added.

Murali Kartik also admired Akash Madhwal’s bowling efforts and said that he also bowled well in the previous game. During the last league match against SRH at Wankhede, Madhwal picked 4 wickets.

“Not just this game, he also bowled well in the previous game at the Wankhede. So it’s great that he is stepping up and credit to the scouts who keep on roaming and picked up despite playing just 10 domestic games,” said Murali Karthik.

Mumbai Indians will now take on Gujarat Titans in Qualifier 2 match. The match takes place on May 26 (Friday) at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The winning team will face CSK in IPL 2023 final on May 28 (Sunday).
