Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli burst into laughter after a wild throw from Gurnoor Brar nearly struck Mohammed Siraj during the third and final ODI match in New Chandigarh on Saturday, October 3. Siraj had to quickly duck as the ball flew dangerously close to his head, leaving him visibly stunned.

India had posted 351/7 after recovering from a poor start. Rohit Sharma scored 92, while KL Rahul remained unbeaten on 129. The West Indies began the chase positively after Mohammed Siraj dismissed John Campbell for 10 before skipper Shai Hope guided the team to a five-wicket victory with 10 balls to spare.

Gurnoor Brar’s Wild Throw Nearly Hits Mohammed Siraj

The incident took place in the seventh over of the West Indies innings. Amir Jangoo pushed a Mohammed Siraj delivery towards mid-on and set off for a quick single.

Gurnoor Brar quickly collected the ball and attempted a direct throw towards the bowler’s end. However, the throw went badly off target and travelled at high speed towards Siraj, who was lying on the ground after completing his bowling action.

Siraj immediately lowered his head as the ball passed dangerously close to him. The fast bowler escaped without injury but looked completely stunned by how close the throw had come to his head.

The tense moment quickly turned into an amusing one. Once Rohit Sharma realised that Siraj was safe, he could not control his laughter. Virat Kohli also joined in, while Mohammed Siraj looked back at Brar in disbelief after the near-miss.

Gurnoor Brar Endures Difficult Day In The Field

Gurnoor Brar had already made mistakes in the field during the West Indies chase. Earlier, Shai Hope played a shot towards deep fine leg, where Brar moved across to stop the ball. However, he could not collect it cleanly and the ball went through his hands before reaching the boundary for four.

Brar was also involved in a missed chance involving John Campbell. The opening batter was given another opportunity after a fielding error. The dropped opportunities drew visible disappointment from the Indian camp, including Shubman Gill and head coach Gautam Gambhir.

Despite those mistakes, India continued to fight for control after removing Campbell. Hope and Jangoo steadied the innings and kept the required run rate within reach. Their partnership ensured that the West Indies did not allow the early wicket to disrupt the chase.

KL Rahul’s 129* Goes In Vain As Shai Hope Seals West Indies Win

India had recovered impressively after losing two early wickets. Jayden Seales dismissed Shubman Gill for one before removing Virat Kohli for a golden duck, leaving India in serious trouble.

Rohit Sharma then played a crucial counter-attacking innings, scoring 92 off 85 balls with 10 fours and three sixes. Ruturaj Gaikwad also provided valuable support with 57 off 69 deliveries.

KL Rahul made the most of his first opportunity to bat in the series. The wicketkeeper-batter smashed an unbeaten 129 off 87 balls to push India beyond the 350-run mark.

Mohammed Siraj removed Campbell early, but Shai Hope took control of the innings and remained unbeaten on 162 off 143 balls. The visitors reached 352/5 in 48.2 overs to win by five wickets and deny India a clean sweep in the three-match series.

India were also without several first-choice bowlers during the series. Jasprit Bumrah, Arshdeep Singh and Axar Patel were unavailable because of their Asian Games commitments, while Hardik Pandya and Harshit Rana remained sidelined with injuries.
