Harbhajan Singh took a brutal dig at Michael Vaughan after India’s thrilling six-run victory over England in the fifth and final Test at The Oval. With this win, India leveled the five-match Test series 2-2 and shared the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy with England.
Earlier, several former England cricketers, including Vaughan, had predicted that England would win the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy 3-1 or 3-0 at home, especially with India missing big names like Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and Ravichandran Ashwin.

But India, led by young captain Shubman Gill, against all odds, proved them wrong. The young Indian cricket team showed great fighting spirit throughout the five-match Test series. In the final test, England was chasing 374 and looked close to victory. Joe Root and Harry Brook both scored centuries and added a huge 195-run stand for the fourth wicket.

At one point, England needed just 73 runs with six wickets in hand. But India made a strong comeback late on Day 4. Akash Deep broke the big partnership by removing Brook. Prasidh Krishna then dismissed Root and Bethell, leaving England in a tough spot.
On Day 5, England needed only 35 runs with four wickets left. It looked like an easy win for the hosts, but Mohammed Siraj and Prasidh Krishna had other plans as they scalped three wickets to keep India’s hopes alive. Finally, with just six runs to go, Siraj bowled a perfect inswinging yorker to clean up Gus Atkinson and seal the memorable win for India at The Oval.

With this result, England, under Ben Stokes and Brendon McCullum, has not won a Test series against India or Australia, even at home. After India’s remarkable tour, Harbhajan Singh hit back at Michael Vaughan. He praised the young Indian team for proving the critics wrong.
He called the Indian players “warriors” and highlighted how they stood tall despite all odds. Harbhajan Singh also reminded everyone that while the series ended 2-2, the real victory was how India fought back and created history on English soil.
There is a big win hidden for India: Harbhajan Singh
Harbhajan Singh said in a video on his YouTube channel, “I feel there is a big win hidden for India here. Yes, the scoreline shows 2-2. Michael Vaughan and many others predicted that it would be 3-1 or 3-0. I would tell them to look towards their side a bit and where England cricket stands. Our warriors have shown the level of Indian cricket.”
The former spinner added, “Unbelievable Test match, and the way India has played the series, they deserve praise. When the team went to England, many people said it was young and there were no seniors. But see how the young team created history.”
Notably, India will now play only four Test matches in 2025, and all of them will be played at home—two against the West Indies in October and two against South Africa in November. Now, they will shift their focus to the white-ball cricket with the Asia Cup 2025 scheduled next month.
