Former Indian spinner Harbhajan Singh has lauded champion pacer Jasprit Bumrah for his brilliant show on the opening day of the first Test match against England.

Bumrah had come in for criticism following his indifferent returns in the ICC WTC final against New Zealand.

However, the champion seamer looked in his elements on the opening day of the series as he bamboozled the English batting unit with a display of brilliant seam and swing bowling.

The right-hander claimed four wickets as India shot England out for 183.

”Unbelievable bowling from Jasprit Bumrah. A lot was said about him that he isn’t in form, doesn’t swing the ball and also that only T20 format suits him. But don’t forget that he is a champion bowler and a proven match-winner,” said Harbhajan Singh on his Youtube channel.

“His record across all three formats is magnificent. He is as big a player in bowling as Kohli is in batting. He is the trump ace of this bowling lineup.” said Harbhajan Singh/

As far as the match is concerned, Harbhajan Singh reckoned that if Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul can see off the first half-hour of the morning session then the visitors could put the English side under real pressure.

The former off-spinner reckoned that India will win 70-75 percent of the game if they can post a score in the range of 375-400.

”First session will be really crucial and I hope that Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul will give a good start. The first half hr will be crucial. Both Rohit and Rahul have a good technique and if they start well then it will set the tone for the entire day,” said Harbhajan.

”If India can score 375-400 in their first innings then I can say that 70-75 percent India has won this game.” he added.

At the time of writing, India had moved on to 0/46 on the second morning.
