"Hard pill to swallow": Shubman Gill furious at GT teammates after loss to CSK

Shubman Gill-led Gujarat Titans (GT) played their final league stage match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 against the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on Sunday, May 25.
Gujarat Titans lost the Match No. 67 of IPL 2025 against the MS Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings by 83 runs at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

I think the game pretty much went away from us in the powerplay - Shubman Gill
GT were invited to bowl first in the match, and they allowed CSK to register 230 for 5. Chasing the target, GT batters struggled and they got all out for 147 in 18.3 overs.
Speaking after the match, Shubman Gill said that they lost the match in the powerplay itself. He stated:
"I think the game pretty much went away from us in the powerplay, we never really came back. Chasing 230 is always a tricky target. Teams already eliminated have nothing to lose and they come out all guns blazing."
We weren't able to stay calm under pressure - Shubman Gill
Shubman Gill slammed his teammates, saying that they were unable to remain calm under pressure and failed to control runs in the middle overs. He said:
"We weren't able to stay calm under pressure and I think we gave in to pressure. It's very important to control runs in the middle overs. If you are not going to do that it's going to be challenging. That's where we were lacking in the last two games."
Shubman Gill further labeled the defeat to CSK as the "hard pill to swallow," but was hopeful of his team bouncing back. He said:
"(Mood in the dressing room) This one would be a hard pill to swallow for us. The bright side is that we have two or three games left so boys will be motivated to play in Mohali. Fortunately for me, going back to by hometown... played a lot of cricket there and it's going to be a really exciting."
GT hammered CSK in their previous clash
On May 10, 2024, in Ahmedabad, Gujarat Titans (GT) produced a dominant performance to hammer the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) by 35 runs.
Batting first after losing the toss, GT openers came out all guns blazing and built an unbelievable opening stand. Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan stitched together a historic 210-run partnership by dismantling the CSK bowling unit.
Both openers brought up magnificent centuries, with Gill scoring 104 off 55 balls and Sudharsan blasting 103 off just 51. Their exceptional performance with the bat helped GT finish with a mammoth total of 231/3.
While defending the score, the GT bowling unit was clinical, and they restricted the Men In Yellow to 196/8. Mohit Sharma bagged a three-wicket haul, Rashid Khan bagged two crucial wickets, while Umesh Yadav and Sandeep Warrier got one wicket each.
