Australian batter Marnus Labuschange is surprised at the schedule of Australia’s upcoming T20I series against India just three days after the Men in Yellow won their sixth World Cup title. The first T20I will be played in Vizag on November 23 after Australia won the title on Sunday, November 19.
Marnus Labuschagne who was initially unsure to be picked in Australia’s World Cup squad ended up playing a key role in Australia’s victorious campaign. he scored an unbeaten 58 in the final and stitched an unbroken 192-run stand with Travis Head (137) to take Australia over the line.
Marnus Labuschagne along with several players from the World Cup squad are not a part of the T20I squad that has been named for the five-match series. Meanwhile, the batter is astonished at how the T20I series has been scheduled and finds it “hard to fathom”.
Marnus Labuschagne On Australia’s Schedule Against India
“We had pretty much two days of celebrating, which was nice. And just to really soak it up and soak in what we actually just achieved. But I mean, it is astonishing that there’s another game on tomorrow. That’s hard to fathom. It’s hard to fathom how those guys are going to be playing in a day’s time. But that’s just the nature of the scheduling, it’s the nature of cricket at the moment. We’ve got three weeks until the first Test so guys will be freshening up, getting themselves ready for the for the next challenge” Perth Now quoted Marnus Labuschagne as saying.
Australia interestingly will be led by Matthew Wade despite the presence of Steve Smith and Glenn Maxwell in the squad. Travis Head is also a part of the squad as is Adam Zampa and Marcus Stoinis from the World Cup squad. There are reports that Smith is likely to open the batting for Australia.
India, on the other hand, will be led by Suryakumar Yadav with their senior players rested as well. The BCCI selection committee has named a young T20I side with Yuzvendra Chahal and Sanju Samson not finding a place in the squad.
