India captain Rohit Sharma has been in the headlines ever since Team India scripted history and lifted the T20 World Cup 2024 title. The India National Cricket Team beat South Africa in the final by 7 runs at the Kensington Oval in Bridgetown, Barbados to etch their name in the record books.

India captain Rohit Sharma played a huge role in India lifting the title. Along with him his deputy Hardik Pandya also played a vital role and made sure that India lifted the title after a long wait. The duo ensured that the team won the tournament without even losing a single game in the event.

Ahead of the T20 World Cup 2024, during the IPL 2024, the relationship between Rohit Sharma and Hardik Pandya didn't seem to be good. This was because the Indian skipper was removed as the captain of the Mumbai Indians the all-rounder was handed the leadership.

Hardik Pandya received a lot of boos from the fans and also was treated with "Rohit Rohit" chants. There were reports that the relationship between the two wasn't great as Rohit Sharma reportedly along with some senior players were unhappy with the way Hardik Pandya captained the team.

However, in the Indian colors, both Rohit Sharma and Hardik Pandya joined hands together and did it for the nation. With the relationship between both not being great, the glimpses of that were not even visible in the World Cup as they played magnificently well and helped India win.

Both Rohit Sharma and Hardik Pandya played a vital role for the team. The opening batter scored was the leading run-getter for his team as he scored 257 runs in 8 matches with a strike rate of 156.70.

On the other hand, Hardik Pandya scored 144 runs at an average of 48.00 and a strike rate of 151.57 in six innings and was even more exceptional with the ball. He bagged 11 wickets in 25 overs at an economy rate of 7.64.

Rohit Sharma asks Hardik Pandya to take the trophy out of Mumbai Airport

Amid all the rumors of rifts between Hardik Pandya and Rohit Sharma, the India captain had his way of rubbishing all the reports. As per the senior journalist, Vimal Kumar, the India captain forced Pandya to lead the team out from the Mumbai Airport and even at the Wankhede Stadium with the trophy.

Hardik Pandya, who was booed at the Wankhede Stadium during the IPL, received huge cheers from the fans after the victory parade. The all-rounder himself seemed to be very animated as he lifted the trophy and looked extremely delighted having won the trust of the fans again.

With Rohit Sharma retiring from the T20Is, Hardik Pandya now seems to be the potential candidate to take charge of the team. He would be hoping to carry on the legacy of senior players and take the team to more glory in the future.
