Very few cricketers can trigger a genuine bidding war between all ten IPL franchises. Hardik Pandya belongs to that category.
The Mumbai Indians captain is far more than an all-rounder. He is a proven IPL-winning captain, one of India’s biggest white-ball match-winners, a genuine fast-bowling option, and one of the few players capable of changing a game in a matter of overs. Even after a relatively quiet IPL 2026, his value remains among the highest in the league because players with his skillset simply do not exist in abundance.
If the Mumbai Indians ever decided to entertain trade offers for Hardik Pandya, the asking price would be enormous. Every franchise would need to give up premium talent, whether it is a future superstar, an established match-winner, or a package that strengthens multiple areas of the squad.
Why Hardik Pandya remains one of IPL’s most valuable assets
Hardik Pandya’s recent batting numbers do not fully reflect his value. Since 2022, he has captained the Gujarat Titans to a title and a runners-up finish before returning to the Mumbai Indians and leading them back to the playoffs.
Across his IPL career, Hardik Pandya has scored 2,955 runs at a strike rate of 146.29 while also taking 82 wickets. More importantly, he remains one of the few Indian cricketers who can comfortably occupy multiple roles in the same XI.
A franchise can find an opener. A franchise can find a finisher. A franchise can even find a pace bowler. Finding an Indian player who can captain a side, finish games, bowl crucial overs, and thrive under pressure is a much tougher task. That is why Mumbai Indians would demand elite value in return.
Rajasthan Royals: Yashasvi Jaiswal + Ravi Bishnoi
Yashasvi Jaiswal has already established himself as one of India’s premier batters across formats. In 83 IPL matches, he has scored 2,593 runs at a strike rate of 152.80, including two centuries and 18 fifties.
His consistency stands out even more. Jaiswal scored 625 runs in IPL 2023, followed it up with 435 runs in 2024, added 559 runs in 2025 and contributed another 427 runs in 2026. Very few Indian batters have maintained that level of production at such a young age.
Ravi Bishnoi makes the package even stronger. The leg-spinner has taken 83 wickets in 86 IPL matches and gives Mumbai a long-term Indian spin leader. With MI constantly looking to strengthen their spin department, Bishnoi solves a problem while Jaiswal becomes the franchise’s next batting superstar.
Trade scenario: Hardik Pandya for Yashasvi Jaiswal and Ravi Bishnoi.
Lucknow Super Giants: Nicholas Pooran + Prince Yadav
This is the one package that genuinely challenges the Rajasthan Royals. Nicholas Pooran has become one of the most destructive T20 batters in world cricket. His IPL career numbers are staggering. In 104 matches, he has scored 2,527 runs at a strike rate of 164.09 while smashing 186 sixes.
Pooran scored 499 runs at a strike rate of 178.21 in IPL 2024 before producing 524 runs at a strike rate of 196.25 in IPL 2025. Across those two seasons alone, he cleared the ropes 76 times. However, his recent form has been poor.
Prince Yadav adds the Indian pace-bowling component. The young fast bowler claimed 16 wickets in IPL 2026 and has already shown the ability to trouble top-order batters with pace and movement.
Pooran immediately transforms Mumbai’s batting, while Prince gives them a bowler they can develop for years.
Trade scenario: Hardik Pandya for Nicholas Pooran and Prince Yadav.
Gujarat Titans: Washington Sundar + Shahrukh Khan
This package is built around versatility rather than star power. Washington Sundar enjoyed the best batting season of his IPL career in 2026, scoring 377 runs at an average of 37.70 and a strike rate above 150. For years, he was viewed primarily as a bowling all-rounder. Last season suggested he could become much more than that.
Across his IPL career, Sundar has scored 888 runs and picked up 40 wickets while providing flexibility with both bat and ball.
Shahrukh Khan brings finishing power. The Tamil Nadu batter has scored 775 IPL runs at a strike rate of nearly 148 and enjoyed his most productive season in 2025, scoring 179 runs at a strike rate of 179.
Together, they strengthen multiple departments without relying on a single superstar.
Trade scenario: Hardik Pandya for Washington Sundar and Shahrukh Khan.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru: Venkatesh Iyer + Suyash Sharma
This package is stronger than it appears at first glance. Venkatesh Iyer has quietly put together an impressive IPL career. In 69 matches, he has scored 1,677 runs at an average of 31.64 and a strike rate of 142. He also owns an IPL century and has played key roles in successful campaigns.
His IPL 2026 numbers were particularly impressive. He scored 209 runs at an average of 52.25 and a strike rate of 186.61, showing he remains one of the most dangerous left-handed batters in the competition.
Suyash Sharma offers long-term value as a leg-spinner. The 23-year-old has already taken 27 IPL wickets and remains one of the most promising young spin options in Indian cricket.
Trade scenario: Hardik Pandya for Venkatesh Iyer and Suyash Sharma.
Sunrisers Hyderabad: Ishan Kishan + Harsh Dubey
This package combines proven quality with significant upside. Ishan Kishan is already familiar with the Mumbai Indians environment and enjoyed some of the best years of his career with the franchise. His IPL record includes 3,600 runs from 134 matches, but his IPL 2026 campaign is what really stands out.
Kishan smashed 602 runs at a strike rate of 182.42 while registering six half-centuries. Those numbers place him among the most impactful batters of the season.
Harsh Dubey is the wildcard. The left-arm spin-bowling all-rounder has quickly emerged as one of the most exciting young domestic cricketers in India. He claimed a record 69 wickets during a Ranji Trophy season and has already picked up 13 wickets in his first 11 IPL matches.
For Mumbai, this would be a blend of immediate impact and future potential following Hardik Pandya's exit.
Trade scenario: Hardik Pandya for Ishan Kishan and Harsh Dubey.
Punjab Kings: Nehal Wadhera + Harpreet Brar
Mumbai Indians know Nehal Wadhera better than most franchises because they helped develop him.
The left-handed batter has scored 784 runs in his IPL career and impressed during Punjab Kings’ run to the IPL 2025 final, scoring 369 runs at a strike rate close to 146.
Harpreet Brar brings experience and reliability. The left-arm spinner has taken 37 wickets in 51 IPL matches while maintaining an economy rate of 8.00. His 2025 season was particularly impressive as he picked up 10 wickets in just eight matches.
This package may not contain a superstar, but it provides depth and balance MI will need after Hardik Pandya leaves.
Trade scenario: Hardik Pandya for Nehal Wadhera and Harpreet Brar.
Kolkata Knight Riders: Cameron Green
If Mumbai Indians were looking for the closest thing to Hardik Pandya, Cameron Green might be the answer.
Interestingly, MI originally signed Green in 2023 when Hardik Pandya was still with Gujarat Titans. At the time, many viewed the Australian as a long-term all-round solution.
Green repaid that faith with 452 runs at an average of 50.22 and a strike rate of 160.28 during IPL 2023, including a memorable century against Sunrisers Hyderabad.
His overall IPL record now stands at 1,029 runs at an average of 38.11 and a strike rate above 151, along with 23 wickets.
The only reason this package ranks lower is because Hardik offers proven captaincy and leadership value that Green cannot currently match.
Trade scenario: Hardik Pandya for Cameron Green.
Delhi Capitals: Vipraj Nigam + Sameer Rizvi
This is a package based almost entirely on upside. Vipraj Nigam enjoyed a breakthrough IPL 2025 campaign, scoring 142 runs at a strike rate of nearly 180 while also picking up 11 wickets. The leg-spin all-rounder remains one of the most exciting young prospects in Indian cricket.
Sameer Rizvi has also shown encouraging signs. The right-hander scored 252 runs in IPL 2026 at an average of 36 and a strike rate of 147.37 while establishing himself as a genuine middle-order option.
The ceiling is undoubtedly high, but neither player is proven enough yet to justify a trade for a player of Hardik’s stature.
Trade scenario: Hardik Pandya for Vipraj Nigam and Sameer Rizvi.
Chennai Super Kings: Ayush Mhatre + Prashant Veer
This is the ultimate future-focused package. Ayush Mhatre has rapidly become one of the most talked-about young batters in Indian cricket. In just 13 IPL matches, he has scored 441 runs at a remarkable strike rate of 183.75.
The teenager followed his impressive IPL 2025 debut season with another strong campaign in 2026, further strengthening his reputation as a future star.
Prashant Veer remains a developing prospect but carries immense promise. Chennai Super Kings invested heavily in him and view him as a potential long-term all-round option. The package offers plenty of potential but very little certainty.
Trade scenario: Hardik Pandya for Ayush Mhatre and Prashant Veer.
Ranking the best trade packages for the Mumbai Indians:
- Yashasvi Jaiswal + Ravi Bishnoi (RR)
The ideal balance of present quality and future value.
- Nicholas Pooran + Prince Yadav (LSG)
The strongest package if Mumbai want immediate impact.
- Ishan Kishan + Harsh Dubey (SRH)
A proven IPL star combined with one of India’s most exciting young all-rounders.
- Washington Sundar + Shahrukh Khan (GT)
Versatility and balance across multiple departments.
- Venkatesh Iyer + Suyash Sharma (RCB)
A proven top-order performer and a promising young leg-spinner.
- Cameron Green (KKR)
The closest individual replacement for Hardik.
- Nehal Wadhera + Harpreet Brar (PBKS)
Reliable but lacking elite upside.
- Vipraj Nigam + Sameer Rizvi (DC)
High-potential package with limited proven success.
- Ayush Mhatre + Prashant Veer (CSK)
Exciting prospects but still too early in their careers.
Hardik Pandya’s batting numbers can be matched. His bowling numbers can be matched. Even his captaincy achievements can be challenged by a select few players around the world.
What remains difficult to replace is the complete package. That is why only a deal involving a future franchise cornerstone such as Yashasvi Jaiswal or a transformational T20 superstar like Nicholas Pooran would realistically tempt the Mumbai Indians into even considering a trade. Until then, Hardik remains one of the IPL’s most valuable assets and arguably its toughest player to price.
