Harmanpreet Kaur is reportedly fine to lead India in the crucial clash against Sri Lanka in the ongoing ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2024.

The Women in Blue had a huge injury scare in their last game against Pakistan when their captain had to retire hurt. The incident took place in India's 19th over when Harmanpreet was batting. She failed to make contact with a delivery from Pakistan captain Nida Dar.

In doing so, Harmanpreet Kaur lost her balance as well and ended up injuring her neck. At first, the injury did not look serious but the pain was enough for the India star to leave the field even after receiving treatment from the physio. Even though India needed only a couple of runs to win the game, Harmanpreet Kaur decided to leave the field.

She looked in pain and held her neck while going back to the dressing room. Later, she also decided against attending the post-match presentation ceremony. Unsurprisingly, the fans were concerned for her fitness. However, it looks like the injury was not very serious and Harmanpreet Kaur looks fine to play in the upcoming game against Sri Lanka.

RevSportz has reported that the right-handed batter is 'all okay' to play the forthcoming game. Things will become more clear after India's training session on Tuesday (October 8).

Harmanpreet Kaur & Co. eye big win:

After the win over Pakistan in their last game, the Harmanpreet Kaur-led side will be looking to beat Sri Lanka as well to stay in contention for a semifinal spot. The Women in Blue began their campaign with a heavy 58-run loss against New Zealand.

India then bounced back with a six-wicket win over arch-rivals Pakistan. Riding on Arundhati Reddy's 3-wicket haul, India restricted Pakistan to 105/8 before chasing down the total inside 19 overs. India's net run rate (-1.217) is still a matter of concern and they will be looking to register a big win over Sri Lanka.

With only two of the five teams from each group to qualify for the semifinals, the net run-rate could decide the fate of the teams. At present, India are in the fourth spot in the points table while Sri Lanka are in the fifth spot.

The upcoming game will be the first meeting between the two teams since the Asia Cup final in July. In that game, Sri Lanka had thrashed India by eight wickets to register a historic win.
