Harry Brook's rapid rise in the cricketing world has made him an overnight sensation. England's star batter has been brilliant across formats so far which makes him one of the players to watch out for in the future.
Former India head coach Greg Chappell is so impressed with Harry Brook that he compared him with the great Sachin Tendulkar. Chappell compared their records and even claimed that Brook was ahead of Tendulkar in the first few Tests of their respective careers.
The former Australia captain also compared the strength and body structures of both the players and called Brook more powerful than Sachin. It is to be noted that Brook has an added advantage of a great height while Tendulkar was short in stature.

Greg Chappell feels Harry Brook is ahead of Sachin Tendulkar
While writing for his column in Sydney Morning Herald, Greg Chappell compared the early stats of Harry Brook and Sachin Tendulkar and claimed that England's youngster is ahead of the legendary India batter.
"Harry Brook, a batting sensation whose performances and approach I compare to the great Sachin Tendulkar. Remarkably, Brook’s early career stats suggest he might even have outpaced the Indian maestro in terms of impact at the same stage," Chappell wrote in his column.
Chappell also dissected their batting methods and claimed that both of them do not move excessively in the crease initially. He feels that this ability makes these players score runs from most balls whether they are good or bad.
"At just 25, Brook has rapidly become one of the most talked-about cricketers in the world. He boasts a simple but devastatingly effective batting method. Much like Tendulkar in his early years, Brook doesn’t move excessively in the crease before the ball is delivered," Chappell explained.
"His stability and minimalistic technique allow him to read the angles of the bowler and adjust his strokes with precision. The result? An extraordinary ability to score from most deliveries, whether they’re pitched full, short or on an awkward length," he added.
"Simplicity often breeds greatness" - Greg Chappell
Greg Chappell further compared Sachin Tendulkar and Harry Brook in their first 15 Tests. He also feels that Brook has a more powerful body structure but both the batters had the ability to manipulate the fields and play different shots to similar deliveries.
"Tendulkar’s early brilliance lay in his ability to use the bowler’s pace to his advantage, scoring heavily on both sides of the wicket. Brook, though a bigger and more powerful player physically, has a strikingly similar ability to manipulate the field with wristy flicks, crunching drives, and punishing back-foot shots.
Comparing the stats of both players, Chappell claimed that Brook is already ahead of Tendulkar. However, it must be noted that Tendulkar faced a fearsome bowling attack during his times under difficult batting conditions while Brook has batted mostly on flat tracks.
"It’s a simple method, but simplicity often breeds greatness. Comparing their first 15 Tests reveals an eye-opening narrative. Tendulkar scored 837 runs at an average of just under 40, with a couple of centuries. Brook, in contrast, had made 1378 runs at an average of nearly 60, with five hundreds," the former Australia skipper noted.
"To be fair, Sachin was still a teenager while Brook is in his mid-20s. Brook’s ability to combine aggression with consistency makes him a nightmare for bowlers because, much like Tendulkar, he’s incredibly hard to contain," he added.
Harry Brook's Test numbers
Harry Brook has scored 8 hundreds and 10 fifties and was adjudged the Player of the Series in England's recent Test series in New Zealand. He has scored 2281 runs in 24 Tests so far at an average of 58.48. He has scored all his runs at a breathtaking strike rate of 88.37.
On the other hand, Sachin Tendulkar had an incredible Test career and is still regarded as the best player to have played the game. Tendulkar started his career while batting at No. 6 and 7. However, he was moved to No. 4 after producing consistent performances with the bat.
