Harry Brook dethrones Joe Root to become No.1 Test batter, Shubman Gill shoots up rankings

England National Cricket Team batting sensation Harry Brook has dethroned his teammate Joe Root to become the No.1 batsman in the ICC Men's Test Batting Rankings.
Also, India National Cricket Team Test skipper Shubman Gill has made a massive jump and now occupies the sixth spot in the Test Rankings for batters.

Harry Brook and Shubman Gill shine in India vs England series
The 26-year-old Harry Brook has been in sensational form in the ongoing Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy. In the first match at Headingley in Leeds, he registered 99 & 0 across two innings, before smashing 158 and 23 in the second Test match at Edgbaston in Birmingham.
These performances, alongside Joe Root's failure in the first two matches, pushed Harry Brook to the top of the rankings, with Joe Root dropping back to second spot.
Meanwhile, India captain Shubman Gill, who has registered scores of 147, 8, 269, and 161 across four innings against the Three Lions, has gained 15 places to move to a new career-best rating and up to sixth spot overall in the ICC Test Batting Rankings.
Also, Harry Brook's teammate and the young English wicketkeeper-batsman Jamie Smith, who scored a magnificent 184* and 88 in the Edgbaston Test, has moved 16 places to 10th overall.

Wiaan Mulder makes big gains
Proteas all-rounder Wiaan Mulder, who was the stand-in skipper of South Africa in the second Test against Zimbabwe, smashed a sensational triple ton.
Mulder remained unbeaten on 367* as he declared the innings to ensure that batting legend Brian Lara retained the record of the highest-ever Test score (400*). His 367* became the fifth-highest individual score in Test history, behind Brian Lara's 400*, Matthew Hayden's 380, Lara's 375, and Mahela Jayawardene's 374.
Meanwhile, he jumped 34 spots to 22nd on the ICC Test Batting Rankings and 12 spots to third on the list for Test all-rounders. The ICC Test All-rounder Rankings are led by the India superstar Ravindra Jadeja.
Talking about the Jasprit Bumrah-led ICC Test Bowling Rankings, Mohammed Siraj gained six spots to 22nd, and West Indies pacers Shamar Joseph (up six spots to 29th) and Alzarri Joseph (up six rungs to 31st) also made decent jumps.

The latest ICC ODI Rankings also saw slight changes with the Sri Lankan players moving up following their good performances against Bangladesh. Charith Asalanka has become the sixth-ranked batter, and Kusal Mendis has moved to 10th, while Wanindu Hasaranga has become the eighth-ranked ODI bowler.
