The India National Cricket Team have added Harsh Dubey as the replacement for Washington Sundar for the third and final ODI against England at Lord's. It will be interesting to see if Harsh Dubey plays in tomorrow’s match or if Kuldeep Yadav will be added to the playing XI.

Washington Sundar sustained a right hamstring injury during the second ODI at Sophia Gardens, Cardiff, while he was batting in the first innings of the match. While running, he suffered the injury and was out on the next ball from a bouncer from Saqib Mahmood for just 2 runs off 5 deliveries.

Harsh Dubey replaces Washington Sundar

This will be just the second series for Harsh Dubey, who previously made his debut in the 1st ODI vs Afghanistan in Dharamsala last month on June 13, 2026, at the HPCA Stadium in Dharamsala. The 23-year-old spin-bowling all-rounder had a stellar outing, taking 3 wickets for 47 runs.

Harsh Dubey did not feature in the 2nd ODI, and in the third and final ODI against the Afghans, he picked just one wicket and soon went for the India A unofficial Test against the Sri Lanka A side and picked three wickets in two innings and also scored a combined 59 runs.

Harsh Dubey's domestic season

Dubey got his first international call-up after a record-breaking 2024-25 domestic season in which he was awarded Ranji Trophy Player of the Series, collecting 69 wickets and scoring over 450 runs for Vidarbha. He also had a good debut IPL 2026 season, taking 13 wickets in 11 matches for Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH).

Firstly, he was added to the Test squad, but he did not feature in the one-off Test against Afghanistan. Dubey remains a key all-rounder for India in the Test and ODI format given his experience batting lower down the order.

He will look to get into the Test squad as well but needs to work hard, with Manav Suthar impressing on his debut. The young bowling all-rounder has also been named in the T20I squad for the forthcoming Zimbabwe series, which is scheduled to begin on 23rd July.

Washington Sundar's recent form

Washington Sundar's blow is a big one for India, as he was in fine form in this series; he batted well under pressure after a horrifying T20I series.

Sundar scored a fifty in the first match and stitched a 102-run partnership with Axar Patel, and both batters remained unbeaten in the run chase as India won the match by 6 wickets. Wash played a knock of 52 runs off 63 deliveries, smashing four boundaries and one six, and the winning runs also came from his bat.

The series is well poised at 1-1, and the third and final match will be a decider; a win for India will boost the confidence of the side after being demolished in the T20I series.

India's updated squad for the third ODI: Shubman Gill (Captain), Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer (Vice-Captain), KL Rahul (WK), Ishan Kishan (WK), Axar Patel, Shivam Dube, Kuldeep Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah, Prasidh Krishna, Arshdeep Singh, Gurnoor Brar, Prince Yadav, Harsh Dubey
