India spinner Yuzvendra Chahal was felicitated by Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Thursday for Team India's victory in the ICC T20 World Cup last month.

Team India defeated South Africa in the final to win the ninth edition of the T20 World Cup. The Men in Blue ended their long wait for an ICC trophy with the win. India won the T20 World Cup after a gap of 17 years and ended their 11-year wait for an ICC trophy as well. They also became the first team to win the tournament without losing a single game.

The players have been given a fitting reception by the countrymen ever since they landed in the country. Soon after landing in New Delhi, the victorious team met Prime Minister Narendra Modi at his residence before taking part in a victory parade in Mumbai. The team was also felicitated by the BCCI at the Wankhede Stadium.

After the celebrations and the felicitations in Mumbai, the players are also being honored in their respective states. Recently, the chief ministers of Maharashtra, Telangana, and Uttar Pradesh felicitated the players of the state who were part of the T20 World Cup squad.

And Haryana chief minister has followed suit as well. CM Saini felicitated Yuzvendra Chahal with a shawl and an idol at his official residence as he congratulated the bowler on the World Cup victory. A few photos of the meeting was later shared by CM Saini on his official X account with the caption:

"Yuzvendra Chahal has inspired countless youth from Haryana and across the country to take up cricket and make a career in the sports.

"Congratulations and best wishes to him and the entire Indian team for this glorious victory," he added.

Kuldeep over Yuzvendra Chahal:

While Yuzvendra Chahal was a member of the India squad for the T20 World Cup, he did not play a single game. India preferred Kuldeep Yadav for all the five games in the Caribbeans. Kuldeep went on to justify the decision by taking 10 wickets in 5 games at an economy of 6.95.

Before the T20 World Cup, Chahal had a decent campaign in the IPL where he picked up 18 wickets and helped Rajasthan Royals qualify for the playoffs. He is likely to be seen in action next later this month when India tour Sri Lanka for three T20Is and as many ODIs.
