Middle-order batsman Sarfaraz Khan likened his captain Rohit Sharma to Bollywood star Aamir Khan’s role in the Lagaan movie which was based on a cricketing battle. The movie showcased a fictional cricketing war between colonial British rulers who were proficient in the sport and local Indian farmers who were naive.

Sarfaraz Khan, while speaking in a recent interview with Aaj Tak, claimed that Rohit Sharma is just like Aamir Khan’s character named “Bhuvan” who integrated his team from scratch. Sarfaraz said that Rohit is similar in the sense he keeps his team glued together despite stiff challenges and even after so much backlash.

The 26-year-old batter feels that Rohit Sharma has been in a similar situation many times and that he reminds Sarfaraz Khan of Bhuvan.

Sarfaraz Khan says playing with Rohit Sharma is fun

Before Sarfaraz Khan likened Rohit to Aamir Khan’s character, he stated that it was a lot of fun to play along with the 5-time IPL-winning captain. He explained his cricketing journey and his coming up to the Indian team after playing in the IPL for almost a decade and grinding very hard in the domestic circuit where he averages 70.87 in First class and 94.16 in List A.

Then he explained how different it was to play along with Rohit Sharma who likes to have a lot of fun with the team and keeps everyone together. Sarfaraz Khan also said called the Indian captain, a very genuine personality before likening him to Aamir Khan.

“I had a lot of fun while playing with Rohit bhai. I’ve been playing cricket for a long time now, played in the IPL for 9-10 years and I play domestic as well. But I had a lot of fun by playing Rohit Bhai.”

“It feels as if, whenever I see him I feel very good and love flows from my heart, he is such an amazing personality who likes to go forward with everyone. Whenever he says something to the team, you must have seen the movie Lagaan where Aamir Khan makes a team. So whenever I see him, I get reminded of the Lagaan movie.” – Sarfaraz said via Aaj Tak.

If we talk about his debut then Sarfaraz Khan had nothing less than a dreamy one. He played his first international red-ball match during the 3rd Test of the 5-match series against England in Rajkot. There he scored back-to-back fifties across innings at the Niranjan Shah stadium where India registered their biggest ever Test victory by 434 runs.

Later on in the series, in the next 2 Tests at Ranchi and Dharamshala, Sarfaraz had scores of 14, 0, and 56 as he got the taste of his first-ever bilateral series win by 4-1.

Sarfaraz says Rohit did not make him feel like a Junior player

Everything that Sarfaraz Khan said afterward about Rohit Sharma was priceless. He explained things about the 36-year-old that very few know about. He shed light on Rohit’s way of talking which at times sounds rude but Sarfaraz explained that it’s the way people from Mumbai usually speak and that it’s their style.

Sarfaraz Khan also said that Rohit never scolds his players and just tries to convey things to make them a better player and that he did not make Sarfaraz feel like he was a junior player at the time of his debut.

“He doesn’t scold us, he just tries to make us understand things. Everyone have their own way of conveying. But I don’t think he scolds anyone because the dialect and language in Mumbai is a bit like that (at times rude).” – Sarfaraz added.

“This is the style of Mumbaikars, we talk like that only. He carries the team well, has good bonding with everyone, provides learning and never made me feel like I’m a junior His intentions are never wrong even.” – Sarfaraz Khan concluded.
