He Is So Elegant And Technically Sound: VVS Laxman On Suryakumar Yadav

Former Indian batsman VVS Laxman has hailed Suryakumar Yadav as an ‘exceptional’ T20 batsman given his ability to counter pacers as well as spinners with ease.
Suryakumar Yadav finally earned a call-up to the national T20I side for the upcoming five-match series against England; a fruitful culmination of years of grind that he has endured in domestic cricket as well as in the IPL
“He is so elegant, he is technically sound, great shots against the spin bowlers and the fast bowlers, I think he is an exceptional T20 batsman,” said VVS Laxman on Star Sports
Laxman further added that Suryakumar Yadav would be chuffed about getting a call-up to the Indian team given the fact there are so many contenders fighting for a single spot in the playing 11.
“Coming into the Indian squad is a dream come true for anyone because they work hard, there is so much of competition and once maybe the toughest dream in their life has been realised, nothing more pleasing and satisfying than that. What he has done is the right way to break open the door,” said Laxman.
Suryakumar Yadav has been a prolific run-scorer in domestic cricket as well as in the Indian Premier League for the Mumbai Indians.
Laxman reckoned that the 30-year-old has done the hard yards pretty well and he deserves to get a chance in the national team.
“He has gone back to first-class cricket, scored tons of runs for Mumbai. When he is playing in the IPL, he is the main batsman along with some of the stalwarts in the Mumbai Indians team and wins matches, not only scores runs but handsomely wins matches for them,” added Laxman.
Yadav has been in scintillating form in the ongoing Vijay-Hazare Trophy where he has racked up 332 runs in five outings at an average of 66.40 and a stupendous strike-rate of 151.59.
