“He looks tentative” - Ex-Australia captain raises concerns over Cameron Green's struggles in IPL 2026

Former Australia captain Aaron Finch expressed concerns over Cameron Green’s batting struggles for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in IPL 2026. The cricketer-turned-commentator stated that “he's not looking the same as in the past” following the match against Punjab Kings (PBKS) at Eden Gardens on Monday.
Kolkata Knight Riders secured one point after heavy rain interrupted their fixture against the Shreyas Iyer-led side. KKR skipper Ajinkya Rahane faced criticism after opting to bat first despite overcast conditions. The home team collapsed to 25 for two within four overs before the umpires called off the match.
Cameron Green Looks Tentative And Panicked - Aaron Finch
Speaking on ESPNCricinfo, Aaron Finch said that Cameron Green looks tentative at the crease. The former captain stated that Kolkata Knight Riders should either bat him at the top of the order or drop him until he regains his confidence.
"One of those dismissals has been a run out, not a part of his fault," Finch said. "Still, he's missed out twice. There's a bit of panic, he's not looking the same as the past. Remember when he was at the top of the order for MI - how he had totally different intent."
"He was imposing at the crease. Now he looks tentative. Don't push him down. Push him either up the order, or give him a rest," he added.

Cameron Green Fails To Justify Massive Auction Price Tag
Cameron Green became the most expensive overseas player in Indian Premier League history after Kolkata Knight Riders spent Rs. 25.2 crore. However, the 26-year-old has managed just 24 runs in three matches at an average of eight. He is also not cleared to bowl by Cricket Australia.
Green batted at number three for Mumbai Indians during the 2023 season. The all-rounder scored 452 runs in 16 innings at a strike rate of 160.28. Kolkata Knight Riders need a similar impact from their overseas signing.
During the washed-out match against Punjab Kings, Green edged his second ball to the wicketkeeper off Xavier Bartlett. He earlier scored 18 against Mumbai Indians and was run out against Sunrisers Hyderabad. Kolkata Knight Riders will next face Lucknow Super Giants on April 9 in Kolkata.
Aaron Finch Slams Kolkata Knight Riders For Baffling Toss Decision
Aaron Finch also questioned the Kolkata Knight Riders management for their decision to bat first despite rain threats. He stated that moisture under the Eden Gardens pitch naturally assisted seam bowlers.
"Winning the toss and electing to bat after the wicket's been under the covers for a day - you know there's been rain in the air - it makes absolutely no sense. That's an alarm bell for me. It's not that they're two down for 25. It's the fact that 'we shouldn't be batting'."
"You're making the wrong decision even when you've got all the information. DLS works better for the team batting second a little better. You've got all that information, so I don't understand how you get to the decision you'll bat first."
