"He will give wings"- Navjot Singh Sidhu's stone-cold verdict on Gautam Gambhir's appointment as India Head Coach

Former India cricketer Navjot Singh Sidhu has predicted the Men in Blue to dominate world cricket after Gautam Gambhir was appointed India's new head coach. Recently, BCCI secretary Jay Shah officially announced that Gambhir will take over as India's new head coach after Rahul Dravid's tenure ended with the conclusion of the T20 World Cup 2024.
Gambhir's announcement of the role seemed like a mere formality as reports had earlier emerged of him being India's next coach. According to the reports, the BCCI has been in touch with Gambhir since IPL 2024, where the former India batter was the Kolkata Knight Riders' mentor.
At that time, Gambhir had asked for some time but later expressed his willingness for the role. He applied for the role and the board was happy with his vision for Indian cricket.

Gautam Gambhir has no experience working as a head coach but has previously worked with the coaching staff of IPL teams. He worked as the mentor of Lucknow Super Giants in their first two years of IPL in 2022 and 2023. In both the seasons, the Super Giants made it to the playoffs.
Gautam Gambhir's prolific record with Kolkata Knight Riders
Gambhir joined Kolkata Knight Riders for IPL 2024 as the team mentor. Under his mentorship, KKR won its third IPL title by defeating Sunrisers Hyderabad convincingly in the final.
Alongside working as a mentor, the former India opener has held leadership positions previously as well. Unfortunately, he didn't get to lead India for a long time and led the team in just six matches, winning all of them. But his record as an IPL captain is prolific. Under his captaincy, Kolkata Knight Riders won its first two IPL titles in 2012 and 2014. This is also known as the golden time for the franchise.
Gautam Gambhir also played crucial roles in India's wins in two ICC tournament finals in the 2007 T20 World Cup and 2011 ODI World Cup. The left-hander was India's top run-scorer in both finals. He was also crowned as the No. 1 batter in the ICC Test Rankings in 2009.
