The Indian cricket team's success in the T20 World Cup 2024 sparked joyous scenes across the nation, with fans rejoicing in the streets and on social media. Notably, India had last won an ICC trophy in 2013 under MS Dhoni's captaincy.

India’s second T20 World Cup triumph after 17 years ignited widespread celebrations across the world, and social media was flooded with heartfelt congratulatory posts from the cricket fraternity, Bollywood celebrities, and politicians.

Among the many personalities lauding Team India’s historic achievement was former BCCI president and legendary cricketer Sourav Ganguly, who took to social media to extend his appreciation to the skipper Rohit Sharma and his team.

Notably, it took 16 years, 9 months, and 5 days to reclaim the title, with MS Dhoni winning the maiden T20 World Cup in South Africa in 2007. Taking to the micro-blogging site X, Ganguly extended his warmest congratulations to Rohit and the Indian cricket team on winning the T20 World Cup 2024.

The legendary cricketer singled out Jasprit Bumrah for his exceptional bowling performance in the 2024 T20 World Cup. He also lauded Virat Kohli, Axar Patel, and Hardik Pandya for their contributions to the team’s successful campaign in the USA and Caribbean Islands.

Ganguly also acknowledged the inspiring coaching of Rahul Dravid and the Indian support staff, calling it a moment of immense pride for Indian cricket. He urged everyone to savor the moment, emphasizing that great moments are indeed worth the wait.

Recently, Ganguly highlighted the immense pressure on Indian skipper Rohit, emphasizing the stakes of losing another World Cup final in seven months. He hilariously remarked that Rohit might consider jumping into the ocean if India loses another World Cup under his captaincy.

Ganguly was quoted as saying by PTI: “I don't think he can lose two World Cup finals in seven (six) months. He will probably jump into the Barbados ocean if he loses two finals under his captaincy in seven months.”

Notably, Rohit announced his retirement from T20I cricket alongside Virat after winning the T20 World Cup 2024 on the Caribbean soil on June 29.
