The series will conclude with the 5th and final Test match scheduled to start on September 10 at Emirates Old Trafford in Manchester. India’s Tour Of England 2002: Drawn 1-1

India’s tour of England in 2002 took place from July to September consisted of 4 Test matches. The Indian team was led by former cricketer Sourav Ganguly while the England team was led by Nasser Hussain. The series ended in a draw as both the teams won 1 match each while 2 games ended in a draw.
England won the first match by 170 runs. After putting a mammoth 567 runs target for India in the 2nd innings. India team were bowled out for 367. The 2nd match ended in a draw. Team India scored 357 in the 1st innings to which England replied with 617. India were 424-8 till the end of Day 5, which ended the match in a draw.
The Sourav Ganguly-led Indian side made a comeback in the 3rd Test by winning it by an innings and 46 runs. With three centuries each by Raul Dravid (148), Sachin Tendulkar (193), and Sourav Ganguly (128), Team India put up gigantic 628-8 (d) on the scoreboard. Later, they bowled out England for 273 and 309 in both innings and earned the victory.

In the 4th Test, England were bowled out for 515 in the 1st innings, to which India responded with 508 all out. Till the stumps of Day 5, England were railing at 114-0. As a result, the match ended in a draw with India and England winning 1 match each in the series.

The 1st Test ended in a draw. England kept a target of 380 for India in the 2nd innings but India managed to evade a loss by keeping 1 wicket in hand on Day 5.
Team India won the 2nd Test after bowling out England for just 198 in the 1st innings. India scored 481-10 in the 1st innings. England were bowled out for 355 in the 2nd innings and India comfortably chased down the 73-run target in the 2nd innings and won the match by 7 wickets.

The 3rd Test ended in a draw as India scored 664 and 180/6 (d) in both innings. England were bowled out for 345 in the 1st innings but managed to remain on the field on Day 5 with 369/6 on the scoreboard. With the 3rd Test ending in a draw, India won the series 1-0. India tour of 2011 consisted of 4 Test matches. It was India’s biggest loss against England in the last 5 away Test series. Indian team, which was led by MS Dhoni, lost all 4 matches to Andrew Strauss-led English side. England won the first Test by 196 runs. They scored 474/8 (d) and 269/6 (d) in both innings and bowled out India for 286 and 261.
In the second Test, they defeated India by 319 runs. The Andrew Strauss-led side put up 221 and 544 in the 1st and 2nd innings, and crushed Team India to a mere 288 and 158 in both innings.
In the 3rd Test, England’s victory margin rose as they won by an innings and 242 runs. Bowling out India for 224 in 1st innings, England smashed mammoth 710-7 on the scoreboard with a double century by Alastair Cook (294). India were bowled out for 244 in the 2nd innings.

In the 4th Test, England outclassed Team India by an innings and 8 runs. They piled up 591/6 (d) in the 1st innings and bowled out India for 300 and 283. As a result, England won the series 4-0 and India faced a humiliating defeat on English soil. Rahul Dravid was awarded player of the series for scoring 461 runs during the tour.
India’s Tour Of England 2014: Lost 1-3

Team India’s Test tour of 2014 witnessed a total of 5 matches between the two teams. The Indian side was led by MS Dhoni while the England team was led by Alastair Cook. England again outplayed India in the Test series, this time winning by 3-1. The 1st Test ended in a draw with India scoring 457 and 391 in both innings. England put up 496 runs in the 1st innings.
In the 2nd Test, India defeated England by 95 runs. India scored 295 and 342 in both innings. England were bowled out for 319 in the 1st innings. While chasing a target of 319 in the 2nd innings, England were crushed to 223 all-out. However, in spite of 1-0 lead after the second Test, Team India miserably failed in the rest of the three matches.

The MS Dhoni-led team lost the 3rd Test by 266 runs and the 4th Test by an innings and 54 runs. In the 5th Test, England totally outplayed India by winning the match by an innings and 244 runs. England made a wonderful comeback to win the series 3-1. Indian pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar was awarded player of the series for scalping 19 wickets during the tour.
India’s Tour Of England 2018: Lost 1-4

Team India’s previous away Test series occurred in 2018. India lost the series 1-4. The Indian team was led by Virat Kohli while the England team was led by Joe Root. England won the 1st Test by 31 runs.
England and India scored 287 and 274 respectively in the 1st innings. India bowled out England for just 180 in the 2nd innings. However, they totally failed to chase the mere 193-run target in the 2nd innings and were bowled out 162.
In the 2nd Test, England won by an innings and 159 runs. The Joe Root-led side bowled out Team India for just 107 and 130 in both innings, after smashing 396/7 (d) in the 1st innings. In the 3rd Test, India made a comeback by bagging a victory by 203 runs.
With 329-10 and 352/7 (d) in both innings, India bowled out England for 161 in the 1st innings and kept a target of 521 for the home team in the 2nd innings. England were bowled out for 317 and lost the match by 203 runs.

However, England managed to win the series by winning the 4th and 5th Test. They won the 4th Test by 60 runs bowling out for 184 in the 2nd innings against a target of 245. In the 5th Test, England outclasses Team India by 118 runs. Joe Root and company scored 332-10 and 423-8 (d) in both innings.
They bowled out India for 345 against a gigantic target of 464. Eventually, England outclassed India in the series 4-1. Indian skipper Virat Kohli and England bowler Sam Curran were both awarded players of the series. Kohli was the highest run-scorer in the series with 593 runs while youngster Sam Curran picked 11 wickets in 4 games.
