The TATA Indian Premier League (IPL), 2026, match no.28 was between the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and the Rajasthan Royals. KKR, while chasing the target of 156 runs, were off to the worst possible start as they lost opener Tim Seifert on the very first ball, and in the next over, KKR’s captain Ajinkya Rahane was also back for a duck.

Ajinkya Rahane will feel the heat as it was his second consecutive duck in the IPL 2026, as in the last match, he was also dismissed for a first-ball duck, and in today’s game, it was a second-ball duck. Rahane, who is already under the pump for his poor tactics and captaincy, has led KKR to lose 6 games in this season so far.

Ajinkya Rahane's struggle continues

Ajinkya Rahane has been criticised for his poor decision-making, and people also noticed his strike rate slowing down while playing against the spinners and slower deliveries. But today, he was dismissed while square-cutting a loose delivery from Nandre Burger.

After the second duck by the KKR captain, he became the opener with the most ducks in IPL. Rahane now has 12 ducks to his name while opening the batting in the tournament. The KKR captain might need to step down as the fans, management, and some players are also not very happy with him, and if the Knights lose this match, there will be some serious issues.

KKR falters again

KKR are in deep trouble with three wickets down inside the powerplay as Cameron Green, who was looking good, was dismissed in the most unfortunate way, as Dhruv Jurel's brilliant stumping dismissed the Australia batter. He was dismissed on the score of 27 runs.

The Knights are on the verge of creating an unwanted record; if they lose this match, it will be the first time that any team loses their first seven matches on the trot in the history of the IPL. Rovman Powell and Angkrish Raghuvanshi are at the crease with the Knights score 52/3.

Rajasthan Royals openers gave them a good start; however, the Knight spin duo of Sunil Narine and Varun Chakravarthy pulled the game, picking five wickets among them and restricting the Royals to 155/9.
