Young England cricketer Harry Brook has pulled out of the upcoming five-match Test series against Team India due to personal reasons. The England selectors will announce Harry Brook’s replacement for the highly anticipated Test series in the near future.

Harry Brook debuted in Test cricket against South Africa in 2022. The 24-year-old has played 12 Tests, 15 ODIs, and 29 T20Is for England. Brook has scored 1181 runs in 20 Test innings at an impressive average of over 62, featuring four centuries and seven half centuries.

Brook set a remarkable record by scoring the highest number of runs in a batter’s first six men’s Test innings for England, breaking a 125-year-old record held by KS Ranjitsinhji. He amassed a total of 455 runs in his six innings, surpassing the previous record of 418 runs.

Harry Brook Will Not Be Returning To India – ECB

On Sunday, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) released an official statement on Harry Brook returning home. According to the statement, Brook will not return to India for the red-ball series. The ECB requested the media and the public to respect the privacy.

“Harry Brook is set to return home with immediate effect for personal reasons from the England Men’s Test tour of India. He will not be returning to India,” the statement read.

“The Brook family respectfully requests privacy during this time. In light of this, the ECB and the family kindly request the media and the public to respect their wish for privacy and refrain from intruding on their private space.”

“The England selectors will confirm a replacement player for the tour in due course.”

Josh Bohannon Could Earn Call Up From Senior England Team

England’s selectors will announce a replacement player for the India Test tour soon. England Lions captain Josh Bohannon, who scored a century against India A in Ahmedabad, is a potential candidate, along with middle-order options James Rew and Dan Mousley.

England might opt to field both wicketkeepers, Jonny Bairstow and Ben Foakes, in the playing XI for the first match. Foakes, known for his outstanding wicketkeeping skills, could be a valuable asset, considering his performance during England’s previous tour of India.
