Hyderabad Cricket Association Elections Set To Take Place On October 20

The election for the Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) is set to take place in October. The Supreme Court has cleared the way for apex council elections in Hyderabad Cricket Association.

The elections will be held for the posts of president, vice president, secretary, joint secretary, treasurer and councillor. The elections were due to take place in September 2022 but did not take place as there were some cases pending in the court.

Hyderabad Cricket Association Elections To Take Place On October 20

Electoral officer VS Sampath issued notice to the Hyderabad Cricket Association that the elections will take place on October 20.

“Notice is hereby given that the elections of the following office bearers and councilor for Hyderabad Cricket Association will be held on Friday, 20th October 2023 as per the schedule enclosed. Elections will be held for the posts of president, vice-president, secretary, joint secretary, treasurer and councilor”, the notice said.

The notice also said that all the eligible members who can participate in the elections have been named on the official website.

“The list of eligible full members of HCA to participate in the elections i.e., entitled to vote and to contest for elections, as furnished by the Single Member Committee appointed by Hon’ble Supreme Court of lndia is put on HCA website,” it read.

All the stakeholders of the Hyderabad Cricket Association have to attend a meeting related to elections. The meeting will take place on October 4 and the members who need to attend their meeting have been listed on the HCA website. The electoral college consists of 149 clubs and institutions, 6 district associations, 7 international men cricketers and 8 international women cricketers.

The complete schedule of the Hyderabad Cricket Association election is as follows-

  • September 30: Publication of notice
  • September 30: Publication of electors list with names of representatives (as of 2021 AGM)
  • October 4, 6 & 7 (up to 5 p.m.): Receipt of request for change of representatives
  • October 7: Publication of final list with names of representatives
  • October 11 to 13: Receipt of nominations:
  • October 14: Scrutiny of nominations:
  • October 20: Date of election and counting and declaration of results

In February 2023, the Supreme Court appointed retired justice L Nageswara Rao to look into the matter of HCA elections. Rao in July debarred more than 57 clubs from participating in elections for three years due to a conflict of interest.

Rao also nominated ECE VS Sampath as the election officer. However, some members went to court which delayed the process. Later, the Supreme Court ruled out that everyone needs to follow the decisions of the single-bench committee headed by L Nageswara Rao.
