Karnataka’s off-spinning allrounder Krishnappa Gowtham is not only excited about his maiden India tour, to Sri Lanka, but also to reunite with Rahul Dravid, who is the coach of the side for this tour.

Krishnappa Gowtham, who was in India’s squad for the home Test series against England earlier in the year as a net bowler, is now in the squad to take on Sri Lanka in 3 ODIs and 3 T20Is.

He has previously worked under Dravid at India A setup and at the NCA, headed by the legendary batsman. Krishnappa Gowtham speaks highly of Dravid’s role in shaping up youngsters and being always ready to help them out.

“Rahul sir (Dravid) was my coach from India A. I’m excited to play with him again. During my India A days, whenever I had doubts, I used to approach him and ask him anything. Rahul sir is open to Everything. He has solutions for everything. Not just India A, I’ve also spent a lot of time in the NCA with him. He’s just a phone call away to help,” Krishnappa Gowthamtold Timesofindia.com in an exclusive interview.

“I am excited about my reunion with a legend like him (Dravid). It is a blessing in disguise for me that he is the coach and now I ask him about my trip to India. I will ask him what a player should do to play for a long time and play big games. He is just spontaneous with everything,” he added.

Dhawan lets his bat do the talking: Krishnappa Gowtham

Krishnappa Gowtham also had words in praise of Shikhar Dhawan, who is going to lead the side against Sri Lanka in absence of both Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, who are both in England.

Dhawan will be under pressure after losing his place in India’s T20 side. Apart from leading the team, he will also need runs under his belt to stake a claim for a spot in the squad for the T20 World Cup.

“I haven’t interacted much with him (Dhawan). But I want to learn the way he is organized. His playing style, his mindset and of course fitness. He is calm and lets his bat do the talking. I am looking forward to a great series under Shikhar bhai in Sri Lanka,” the CSK all-rounder stated.
