India’s rising star batsman Shubman Gill said he is open to playing in the middle order in limited-overs cricket and underlined the need to remove dot balls in T20 cricket by relying more on rotating strikes against spin Before Punjab’s game against Haryana in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.
The hitter referred to his game as all-around and noted his ability to rotate the strike against spinners. In the ODI match against Zimbabwe, he continued, he scored his century from the third position.
“I have a very good all-around game and I rotate the strike well against spinners.” So, even if I get a shot in the middle, I’m prepared. If the team management is looking at me in the middle of the lineup, I am prepared. I was batting at one down and didn’t open when I got that century in Zimbabwe. So, whether it’s one down or two down, whatever the team requires, I’m ready,” stated the batter as quoted by ESPNcricinfo.
“I believe that the fewer dot balls you play in T20s, the better your strike rate will be. Almost all batsmen have the same boundary percentage, but the ones with fewer dot balls have a higher strike rate. In T20s, you need to know what the bowler is trying to do. Those who bowl in a set way, you can dominate them,” said Shubman Gill.
“The red-ball format is very important to me”: Shubman Gill
In just one of his 21 Test innings, Gill has not opened the batting. In order to have more chances in the Indian Test team, he is also willing to lower the order. Gill is confident in his red-ball cricket strategy, but he is aware of the propensity for his attention to stray while he is in the zone.
“I value the red-ball format greatly. When you perform well in red-ball cricket, you gain a different kind of confidence. I’m ready to bat wherever there’s a gap in the lineup. I don’t believe there is anything wrong with my method.”
“When your concentration is disrupted or you relax a little too much, you miss a good ball. I believe it is common for me to bat well and then be struck out “shared the batter’s test batting technique and desire to play for the Indian test team whenever the opportunity presents itself.
“There is no phase in which I am constantly beaten. I believe it was due to a lapse in concentration. When a batsman is struggling, he becomes more alert. Sometimes it’s the other way around for me. When I’m hitting well, I lose focus “stated the batter about his lack of concentration, which resulted in his dismissal.
