India ace Ravichandran Ashwin has shared his views on the poor state of Pakistan cricket at present. Pakistan cricket's downfall in recent months has left the cricketing world in utter shock.

They are in a downward spiral since last year and are showing very little signs of turning things around anytime soon. It all began in the Asia Cup when Pakistan failed to progress to the final despite being one of the favorites.

It was followed by a disastrous outing in the ODI World Cup where they failed to progress ahead of the league stage. Pakistan managed to win just 4 of their 9 league games as they failed to make it to the semifinal of the World Cup.

After the World Cup, Babar Azam stepped down as the captain and was replaced by Shan Masood and Shaheen Afridi as Test and T20I captains respectively. However, the move did not pay off. Pakistan were whitewashed in the three-match Test series in Australia. It was followed by a 4-1 loss in the T20I series in New Zealand.

Afridi was sacked after just one series as captain as Babar was reinstated. However, Babar has failed to impress so far. Under his captaincy, Pakistan drew the home T20I series against a second-string New Zealand side.

The Men in Green then lost a T20I in Ireland although they went on to win the series. After that, they lost the T20I series in England before performing poorly in the T20 World Cup. The Babar Azam-led side could not progress ahead of the group stage after suffering humiliating losses against the USA and India.

Things then went from bad to worse when Pakistan were whitewashed by Bangladesh in the two-Test series at home. Before that series, Pakistan had not lost a single Test against Bangladesh but ended up both the Tests on home soil to suffer more humiliation.

The dismal loss has further extended Pakistan's poor performance in Tests in recent times. They have not registered a win in the last ten Tests at home. Their last victory in Tests at home came way back in 2021. Recently, Babar resigned as Pakistan's captain and it only shows that things are unlikely to become better any time soon.

With Pakistan cricket in absolute shambles, Ravichandran Ashwin has shared his views on the same. The Tamil Nadu star began by saying that he feels sorry for Pakistan cricket. Ravichandran Ashwin also threw his support behind the Pakistan players who have faced severe criticism from the fans.

"Looking at the current state and phase of Pakistan cricket, I feel sorry. If there's so much instability in the dressing room, players will focus more on their individual interests and less on the team's well-being," said Ravichandran Ashwin.
