Nitish Kumar Reddy wants to carry the confidence
After the match, the seam-bowling all-rounder described how he managed to keep his focus together despite being sidelined for weeks at the Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru. A player who is coming fresh from an injury needs enough confidence to perform his best. In the first match of the series, Reddy had an underwhelming outing, but gained his confidence soon enough to pick up the player of the match award through his bowling. He wants to carry that confidence ahead for future assignments.
"Feels great, you know, every player needs the confidence when they're coming from injury, and to be fair, the first game was not that great for me, and in the second game I'm feeling much more happy enough because any player would need this confidence, and I hope I continue this confidence forward," Nitish said in a BCCI video on Wednesday.
Nitish Kumar Reddy acknowledges the support of the team management
Reddy mentioned that it would not be so smooth without the support of the team and the team management. Nitish Kumar Reddy himself knows very well that the team management has enough trust on his, and he wants to keep the faith intact by relentless performance.
"It's always been a privilege to be a part of the Indian team and the management; obviously, they have given me enough opportunities, and they have shown a lot of trust. I think that is what a player would actually need and that I'm getting from the management. I'm pretty happy with that,” he added.
Nitish Kumar Reddy explains the importance of friends and family
Times at the Centre of Excellence can test a player's mental strength, and Nitish Kumar Reddy felt it well. But he received mental support from his friends and his family members, which helped him to survive the challenging times. Reddy, through the video, explained how his friends and his family helped him during the hours of need.
"I have a couple of best friends; I talk to them every day. It's just mentally very fatiguing in COE. Obviously, it feels great to be, you know, getting those many facilities over there to train, to perform, to increase whatever ability you have. But I would say, I talk to my friends, I talk to my family, and here and there I go to my home and come back for 1-2 days. That is kind of a relief, but yeah, that mentally is one thing we need to take care of,” he stated.
