West Indies debutant Kyle Mayers who pulled out a stunning double century against Bangladesh to win the test for his nation is hoping that his knock would inspire the youngsters to work hard. West Indies managed to chase down the highest fourth-innings score in Asia of 395 for the fall of seven wickets and the debutant Kyle Mayers broke a lot of records with his 210 not out of just 310 deliveries.

Bonner’s 86 helped a bit, and apart from that, it was a one-man show from the West Indian who hit 20 fours and 7 sixes in his innings. West Indies had a lot of senior players opting out for the Bangladesh series and this win will be a great moment for all the West Indian fans.

They were outplayed by Bangladesh in all the departments until day four, and a win looked improbable on the final day with 285 runs to get. The two debutants Mayers and Bonner stitched a 216 run partnership to pull things back for West Indies and created history.

“I won’t say it was a depleted side. I was very confident when leaving with this side. We were outplayed in 2018, and we were confident we would do better this time,”

“I have believed in this team from day one. It’s just about believing in ourselves and backing our plans, and that’s what we have done till day five. We lost some momentum with three wickets in the evening yesterday, but the pitch was playing well. We knew it was an open game. We trusted our plans, and Bonner and Mayers showed that they can stick to the plans, and make it work,” Brathwaite said.
