Former England captain Michael Vaughan has been in the headlines for quite a few months due to his sarcastic comments via social media. Michael Vaughan has been especially critical of the Indian team, mainly the pitches they produced in the Test series earlier this year. With play unlikely to happen on the first day of the ICC World Test Championship final in Southampton between India and New Zealand, he opines that rain saved Virat Kohli’s men.

Until Friday, Southampton was revealed to be brimming with sunshine and brightness. England had already copped criticism as it’s known for its notorious and unpredictable spells of heavy rain. However, rains have been continuous since morning, with no timeline over the occurrence of the toss, adding to the fans’ irritation levels. It remains to be seen if the reserve day in place could force a result.

India are currently leading the ICC World Test Championship’s points table with 520 points in their kitty, followed by New Zealand, who are 100 points away. Having beaten England and Australia in their last two Test series, Virat Kohli’s men are high on confidence and have momentum on their side. But New Zealand have enjoyed an upper hand over India in the recent past. Moreover, the Kiwis beat England in their backyard recently and toppled India as the number one Test team.
