Legendary India National Cricket Team batsman Sachin Tendulkar has dropped a no-nonsense verdict on the newly-appointed Test captain Shubman Gill.

God of Cricket, Sachin Tendulkar, said that Shubman Gill has taken 'measured decisions' while leading the team and has been quite calm and composed.

He’s been good - Sachin Tendulkar on Shubman Gill

Tendulkar received twin honours at Lord's Cricket Ground in London on Thursday, July 10. His portrait was unveiled in the MCC Museum, which was painted by Stuart Pearson Wright from a photograph taken by the artist at his home 18 years ago.

Also, Sachin Tendulkar rang the five-minute bell at Lord's for the first time to mark the beginning of the third Test between the India National Cricket Team and the England National Cricket Team.

Meanwhile, Sachin Tendulkar showered rich praise on Shubman Gill in a video released by Star Sports. He said:

“He’s been good. He’s very calm and composed and I strongly believe that how the rest of the 10 players also react to whatever decision he has taken has been measured decisions, well thought of. "

Sachin Tendulkar further said that the good batting form has helped Shubman Gill make good decisions as captain and has put him in the right frame of mind.

"His batting is complementing that as well because if a captain is in good form, it makes a huge difference on decision making. You need to be in the right frame of mind to make those important calls. He’s been batting brilliantly,” Tendulkar said.

“As an opposition, normally, you know they look to find weak areas in your batting. When your technique at this point of time, has been remarkable. Whatever I have seen, it’s been special. I am very happy you know the way we came back in the series in the second Test match after that disappointment in the first Test match,” he added.

Shubman Gill - The leading run-getter in India vs England Tests 2025

Gill shone with the bat in his debut innings as Test captain at Headingley in Leeds and finished with 147 runs off 227 balls, with 19 fours and 1 six. He became the 33rd player to score a hundred on Test captaincy debut and the fifth Indian to achieve the feat.

Meanwhile, in the second Test match, Gill delivered his best-ever performance with the bat. The Indian skipper led his team from the front by playing an exceptional knock of 269 runs in the first innings and followed it up with a stunning 161 in the second innings.

Gill shattered numerous historic records with his heroics and is currently the leading run-getter in the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy with 585 runs under his belt at an average of 146.25.

Under his leadership, the India National Cricket Team lost the Test series opener by 5 wickets at Headingley in Leeds but bounced back strongly to register a dominant 336-run victory in the second Test at Edgbaston in Birmingham.
