Senior Australia batsman Steve Smith said he would want to steal Rishabh Pant’s reverse lap. The Aussie batsman hosted a QnA session with his fans on social media, where one fan asked him if to name one shot he would like to steal from any batsman.
Steve Smith promptly replied that if given a chance, he would love to take Rishabh Pant’s freaky shot. Earlier in the year, the left-handed batsman hit James Anderson and Jofra Archer over the wicket-keeper and slips with an unusual reverse shot, leaving both bowlers and the people watching in awe and surprised.
“I want to steal Rishabh Pant’s reverse slap over the slip against new ball, what an amazing cricketer,” the Aussie batter said.
Smith is part of the Delhi Capitals side for IPL 2021 and will get further chance to learn the shot from Rishabh Pant when they meet again for the remainder of the IPL in the UAE.
Rishabh Pant tests covid-19 negative, quarantine ended
According to the latest reports, Rishabh Pant has returned a negative covid-19 test and has been moved out of quarantine, which he had been in since July 8, when he was tested positive for the virus.
He is set to join other members of the squad. It remains to be seen if he is drafted straightaway to play in the three-day warm-up match in Durham against a County Select XI. He might be rested from the first practice game starting July 20; India are scheduled to play another practice match before the Test series against England next month.
After Pant, Four more members of the Indian contingent in England were forced to quarantine for 10 days in London. India’s training assistant Dayanand Garani tested positive for the virus on July 14th; bowling coach Bharat Arun, wicketkeeper Wriddhiman Saha and reserve opener Abhimanyu Easwaran were deemed in close contact with Garani and they were all placed in quarantine.
