Veteran all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja has finally opened up about the end of India's long winning streak in Tests at home. After losing to New Zealand in Pune, India suffered its first series defeat in Test cricket at home in 12 years.
It was also India's first series loss after 18 consecutive Test series wins at home. Although a week has passed since that happened, the wounds of the defeat haven't yet been healed, as it could be heard from Ravindra Jadeja's words.
Ravindra Jadeja himself has been the main reason for India's utter dominance at home over the years. The allrounder has immensely contributed with both bat and ball and has emerged as India's premier allrounder in the longest format.

During the press conference after the end of Day 1 of the third Test match at Mumbai, Ravindra Jadeja spoke about India's defeat in the second Test at Pune. Jadeja claimed that he did not want India to lose a series at home as long as he is playing but that didn't happen.
"I was afraid of this. Personally, I had thought that as long as I played for India, I didn't want to lose a single series at home. But this also happened. Whatever I think about, it happens suddenly," Ravindra Jadeja said.
However, the all-rounder wants the Indian team to take this defeat as a lesson and pick up the positives from this series. He admitted to the fact that it looks very different to lose a series at home after such a long time.
"When you raise your expectations so high and then you lose a series after 12 years, it looks very different. These things happen, but as a team, it is a lesson. We need to pick up positives from this and deal with what situation comes next," he added.
New Zealand stun India on two different conditions
New Zealand defeated India on a seaming track in Bengaluru and then stunned the hosts on a turning Pune pitch. The visitors executed their plans to perfection to register one of the most memorable moments in their cricket history.
Coming to the Mumbai Test, India lost three quick wickets at the end of Day 1. The Men in Blue were cruising at the end of the day before this happened but suddenly lost Yashasvi Jaiswal, Mohammed Siraj, and Virat Kohli in quick succession.
Shubman Gill and Rishabh Pant take India to first-innings lead
Shubman Gill and Rishabh Pant started brilliantly on Day 2 and made full use of some sloppy performances by New Zealand. But Pant's wicket opened the floodgates for New Zealand as their bowlers made inroads.
Pant was dismissed for a fiery 60 off 59 balls. Gill scored a majestic 90 off 146 balls which was also the highest score in the innings. Washington Sundar provided the late flourish with the bat as India scored 263 in their first innings, thus taking a lead of 28 runs.
