Chennai Super Kings captain MS Dhoni has said that he hasn’t made any final decision yet about playing in IPL 2022.

The 40-year-old recently led CSK to their fourth IPL title, defeating KKR in the final in Dubai. However, there is no certainty about MS Dhoni’s future, given that a mega-auction is going to take place ahead of IPL 2022.

At a recent event in Chennai, in which the former India captain was invited, he was asked about his participation in the next season.

MS Dhoni didn’t give anything about his decision and stated that there’s still time left for the mega-auction and the IPL 2022.

“I will think about it, there is a lot of time, right now we are just in November. IPL 2022 will be played in April,” MS Dhoni said at an event in Chennai, as quoted by ANI.

We have to decide what is good for CSK: MS Dhoni

Earlier, after the victory in the IPL 2021 final, MS Dhoni was asked about his future at the franchise. The 4-time IPL winning skipper highlighted that his thoughts would only be about what is best for the team, and not about his retention.

“We have to decide what is good for CSK, you know. It’s not really about me being there in the top three or four, whatever the retained number of players is.

“It’s about making a strong core and making sure the franchise doesn’t really suffer, because it will be an auction where you have to make a team for the next ten years. Definitely in 2008, the core group carried on for more than ten years. We’ll have to have a hard look as to… in the next ten years, who are the people who will contribute in a similar manner,” he had said then.

Then while asked about the legacy he would leave behind at Super Kings, Dhoni quipped, “But still, I haven’t left [it] behind!”
