ICC Appoints Wasim Khan As The General Manager Of Cricket

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has confirmed the appointment of Wasim Khan as the General Manager of Cricket. He will begin his stint in the month of May.

Wasim was previously the Chief Executive of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) before quitting. He has also worked in a similar capacity for Leicestershire County Cricket Club and Chance to Shine. Wasim will be replacing Geoff Allardice at the helm.

He brings an in-depth knowledge of our sport and its stakeholders and his firsthand experience of the international cricket landscape will be of enormous benefit as we implement the ICC global growth strategy and move forward into a new events cycle,” Wasim mentioned in a statement released by the council.

Wasim played a huge role in bringing back cricket to Pakistan. He was part of PCB on a 3-year contract but submitted his resignation four months before completing the tenure. Now, he hopes to build the women’s game even further.

He was also made a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) back in 2013 during the Birthday Honours for his services to cricket and the community.
