USA cricketer Bodugum Akhilesh Reddy has been banned from all forms of cricket for eight years after an ICC Anti-Corruption Tribunal found him guilty of breaking the ICC Anti-Corruption Code.
The 26-year-old was found guilty of three different anti-corruption charges linked to the 2025 Abu Dhabi T10 tournament held in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) by an ICC Anti-Corruption Tribunal. Amid this, Finn Allen is set to become BBL's highest-paid player with a record-breaking A$600K offer.
ICC suspends USA star Bodugum Akhilesh Reddy for 8 years
The International Cricket Council (ICC), which was appointed by the Emirates Cricket Board (ECB) as the Designated Anti-Corruption Official (DACO) for the Abu Dhabi T10 League, charged Bodugum Akhilesh Reddy on November 21, 2025, and his ban has been backdated to the same day.
The tribunal found the 26-year-old cricketer guilty of trying to influence a match, approaching a teammate to take part in corrupt activity, and deleting data and messages from his mobile phone, which the ICC said obstructed its investigation.
Reddy denied all the charges by claiming that his conversation with the teammate was only about a possible USA training camp before the 2026 T20 World Cup. However, the teammate told the ICC Anti-Corruption Tribunal that Reddy had asked him to "give runs" during a match, meaning bowl in a way that would help the opposition score more runs.
Phone data deletion backfires
After examining the evidence, the ICC Anti-Corruption Tribunal accepted the teammate's version and ruled that Reddy had attempted to influence the conduct of matches and encouraged another player to engage in corrupt conduct.
The tribunal claimed that deleting phone data further made things worse for Reddy. Amid this, Rashid Latif wants PCB to involve Younis Khan for Pakistan cricket's revival.
Reddy's eight-year ban has been counted from November 21, 2025, the day when he was provisionally suspended while the investigation was going on. The ICC ban means Reddy will not be allowed to play any form of cricket during the eight-year period.
ICC Tribunal holds USA cricketer guilty of 3 violations
The ICC said in an official media release: “The Tribunal found Mr. Reddy guilty of the following offenses under the Code:
Article 2.1.1 – Attempting to fix, contrive, or otherwise influence improperly, or being party to an agreement or effort to fix or contrive in any way or otherwise influence improperly, the result, progress, conduct, or other aspect of matches in the ADT10 2025.
Article 2.1.4 - soliciting, inducing, enticing, instructing, persuading, encouraging, or intentionally facilitating (or attempting to do the former) another Participant to breach Article 2.1.1 of the Code in one or more Matches in the ADT10 2025.
Article 2.4.7 – Obstructing the DACO’s investigation through deletion of data and messages from a mobile device, which may have been relevant to the DACO’s investigation.”
Notably, Reddy represented the USA in four T20Is and picked up one wicket. He made his debut for the national team against the Cayman Islands in the North America T20 Cup. The leg-spinner also played only four matches in T20 cricket and has managed only one wicket.
