The International Cricket Council (ICC) has reported approached the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) regarding the Champions Trophy 2025. The International Cricket Council seeks a response from the Board of Control for Cricket in India after concerns raised by Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).

Notably, the Board of Control for Cricket in India has informed the Pakistan Cricket Board via email that the men's national cricket team will not travel to Pakistan for the 2025 Champions Trophy. The PCB has confirmed that they received the email from the BCCI and forwarded this email to the ICC.

PCB Actively Engaging with Other Cricket Boards For Champions Trophy

After the Pakistan Cricket Board raised concerns about India's stance on the hybrid model for the 2025 Champions Trophy, the ICC has reached out to the BCCI for clarification. The PCB has also been in talks with other cricket boards to express dissatisfaction with the current situation.

"Sources confirm that the PCB has been actively engaging with other cricket boards, informing them of the Indian board's position, which has placed the ICC in a challenging position. Pakistan, steadfast in its opposition to the hybrid model, has expressed dissatisfaction with the current situation, further complicating matters for the governing body," reported Cricket Pakistan.

The ICC is expected to take a few days to respond to the PCB's concerns regarding India's stance on the 2025 Champions Trophy. After Pakistan raised its issues, the ICC reportedly began discussions with the BCCI to clarify India's position and gather the information needed to address the PCB's inquiries.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India is likely to release an official statement after carefully considering the legal implications surrounding the tournament. Meanwhile, the ICC is also consulting with other cricketing nations to find a resolution to the ongoing dispute between India and Pakistan.

Team India Last Traveled to Pakistan for the 2008 Asia Cup

With growing tensions around the hybrid model for the Champions Trophy, the ICC is working to find a balanced, sustainable solution that satisfies all stakeholders. The upcoming 50-over tournament is scheduled for February-March 2025 across three venues in Pakistan, as per tentative schedule.

Notably, the 2025 Champions Trophy could be moved to South Africa if Pakistan refuses to host the tournament under the hybrid model, as reported by Sports Tak.

The last bilateral series between India and Pakistan took place in the 2012-13 season when Pakistan toured India for two T20Is and three ODIs. India last visited Pakistan for the Asia Cup 2008, where they lost to Sri Lanka in the final. The two teams recently met in the 2024 T20 World Cup in New York.
