ICC Champions Trophy 2025: ICC considers moving entire tournament out of Pakistan

In what has been the latest development as per the reports in Sports Tak, it is learned that the International Cricket Council (ICC) is looking to move the Champions Trophy 2025 out of Pakistan. It is learned that the governing body is looking at a third option related to the venues for the tournament.

The ICC Champions Trophy 2025 reportedly might be moved to UAE, Sri Lanka, or South Africa, which is their third option. The first option is staging the tournament in Pakistan, and the second one is the hybrid model, where all the games will be played in Pakistan except for India games, semi-final and final, which will be played in UAE.

As per the reports, it is learned that the Hybrid model is the first choice that the International Cricket Council is considering for the ICC Champions Trophy. They have also prepared a budget for all three options, and it will be a massive blow for the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) will no doubt stay as the hosts of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. But moving the tournament out of Pakistan comes as a big development even though all the hosting rights will stay with the defending Champions.

The reports claimed that moving the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 won't be easy for the International Cricket Council, but a clear decision is likely to be made in November. As per the reports, the decision related to the same will be taken soon, and most likely, it will affect the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).

This all is because of the India National Cricket Team. The Men in Blue hasn't travelled to Pakistan due to political tensions for a long while. Ever since, it was announced that the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 will be played in Pakistan, clouds were looming over it because of the Indian team.

The two nations, due to the political tensions, also don't clash with each other in the bilateral series. They only play each other in the ICC events and the Asia Cups. During the Asia Cup 2023, India didn't travel to Pakistan as the tournament was held in a Hybrid model with India games taking place in Sri Lanka.

India government declines clearance for Team India for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025

The reports on sports tak also claimed that the Indian government hasn’t given clearance for India to travel to Pakistan. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) officials repeatedly have mentioned that they will be travelling only if government will allow.

The ICC Champions Trophy 2025 will be taking place from 19th Feburary to 9th March. According to the draft schedule, Lahore will be hosting seven matches, five games will be played Rawalpindi, and three reportedely are slated to take place in Karachi.

The draft schedule also has suggested that the India National Cricket Team will be playing all the games in Lahore. The reports also mentioned that India vs Pakistan will be taking place at the iconic Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore on March 1.
