The stand-off between India and Pakistan regarding the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 is now at its peak with none of the sides refusing to adjust. During this situation, former Pakistan cricketer Rashid Latif has a suggestion for the International Cricket Council (ICC).

Latif has played a no. of India-Pakistan matches during his time. At that point, the matches, including the bilateral series between India and Pakistan were quite common. However, this is not the case nowadays as these teams only face off in ICC tournaments and Asia Cups.

With the recent issue not seeming to end soon, the whole tournament of the Champions Trophy seems to be in danger, which has been a big cause of concern for the ICC. Various experts have given their opinions on this matter and Rashid Latif too has a solution to it.

Rashid Latif's bold advice to ICC during India-Pakistan ICC Champions Trophy 2025 stand-off

During a conversation with Hindustan Times, Rashid Latif suggested the ICC take away all the hosting rights from both India and Pakistan for the current cricketing cycle. Latif asked the ICC to tell India and Pakistan's boards to resolve all the issues before they can be given the hosting rights.

"My suggestion is that ICC should take away the hosting rights of all global events from India and Pakistan for the cycle of 2024-2031. ICC should tell these boards to first resolve all the issues and then we will give you the hosting rights," Latif advised the ICC.

Rashid Latif believes that taking away the hosting rights from these countries can end this issue for the ICC. According to him, the upcoming ICC events must be hosted by countries other than India and Pakistan.

"I think Pakistan are slated to host two ICC events, India are also slated to host four events in this time period. Take away the hosting rights, if these two teams don't want to play in each other's country, then I am just giving a suggestion that the hosting rights should be taken away by the ICC," he added.

Upcoming ICC events in India

India will host the T20 World Cup in 2026 alongside Sri Lanka and then the 2029 Champions Trophy as well. India is also slated to host the 2031 ODI World Cup alongside Bangladesh.

Pakistan remains dedicated to host a full Champions Trophy

The matter of Champions Trophy 2025 escalated when the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) informed the ICC about the decision of the Indian government that they won't be sending the Indian cricket team to play in Pakistan.

After the ICC informed the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) about India's official decision, the Pakistan Board decided to consult their country's government about the further step. Pakistan's government asked the PCB not to agree with the hybrid model and remain stubborn to host the full tournament.

The Pakistan government has reportedly asked the PCB not to send a Pakistan team to any of the upcoming events held in India in the cycle. It remains to be seen how the ICC resolves this issue.
