The ICC Champions Trophy was in the news following the feud between BCCI and PCB. The India National Cricket Team declined to travel to Pakistan, and the Mohsin Naqvi-led Board also were strong on their stance that they want to host the entire tournament in Pakistan.

To accept the hybrid model for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, Pakistan have been asked not to visit India for the T20 World Cup 2026. They will be playing their games in Colombo as they told ICC they, too, won't be visiting India.
Along with this, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) will also be given hosting rights for an ICC women's event after 2027. But many experts, as well as fans, expressed their displeasure over the same, criticizing chairman Mohsin Naqvi for his decision.
Many former cricketers, including Rashid Latif, Basit Ali, and others, have openly spoken about how playing the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 in the hybrid model would not benefit Pakistan. They are of the opinion that it is a plan related to sending Pakistan to India for further events.
