Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi provided a massive update about the venue and schedule for the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy 2025. He said that he will do what is best for Pakistan cricket, revealing that he is constantly in touch with the ICC chairman.
The ICC Champions Trophy 2025 has been in constant news and it has seen BCCI and PCB getting involved in a massive tussle. This is because the Indian team has declined to travel to Pakistan while the hosts, on the other hand, have made a strong statement that they will stage the entire tournament in their backyard.
To get a clear picture and make a final decision, ICC is all set to call a meeting on 29th November, and only after that the final decision will come out. The latest reports claimed that there are very high chances that the tournament will be played in a Hybrid model and ICC is likely to adopt that
The recent unrest in Pakistan and Sri Lanka A leaving the tour midway is likely to end hopes of Pakistan to host the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 entirely. It was learned that the entire event will be moved out and under pressure that the Pakistan Cricket Board will be hosting the event in Hybthe rid model.
I promise we'll do what is best for Pakistan cricket in ICC Champions Trophy 2025- Mohsin Naqvi
But Mohsin Naqvi made a strong statement yet again, saying that their stance is very clear. He said that it's not acceptable that India doesn't play in Pakistan because they, too, played in India, and they have told the ICC. Speaking to reporters, he said:
"Our stance is very clear. I promise we'll do what is best for Pakistan cricket. I'm constantly in touch with the ICC chairman and my team is talking to them constantly.
"We're still clear in our stance that it's not acceptable that we play cricket in India, and they don't play cricket here. Whatever will happen, will happen based on equality. We've told the ICC very clearly, and what happens next we'll let you know."
Whatever we do, we will make sure the best outcome for Pakistan is achieved - Mohsin Naqvi
Mohsin Naqvi mentioned that whatever decision they take, it will be the best outcome for Pakistan. He added
"Whatever we do, we will make sure the best outcome for Pakistan is achieved," Naqvi said multiple times. "But I repeat, and I am sure you know what I mean, it's not possible that Pakistan play in India, and they don't come here."
I promise you that we'll not just sell our rights out just for more money - Mohsin Naqvi
Mohsin Naqvi also urged Jay Shah, who will be taking charge of ICC in December, to make the best decision, keeping in mind the global cricket body and not the BCCI. He also promised that they won't be selling their rights for money and will do their best for Pakistan cricket. He added:
"[Jay Shah] takes charge in December, and I'm sure once he moves from the BCCI to the ICC, he will think about the ICC's benefit, and that's what he should do. Whenever anyone assumes such a role, he should only consider the interests of that organization."
"I promise you that we'll not just sell our rights out just for more money. This will never happen. But we'll do whatever is best for Pakistan."
