Jason Gillespie is reportedly set to be sacked by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) in the coming days before the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. The former Australia pacer was appointed as Pakistan's Test coach earlier this year only.
In April this year, the PCB announced him as Pakistan's new Test coach and handed him a two-year deal.
Jason Gillespie's reign as the Pakistan head coach began in a disastrous fashion as his team suffered a humiliating 2-0 loss at home against Bangladesh. Pakistan lost a Test as well as a Test series against Bangladesh for the very first time.
England and Australia merits add to Gillespie's achievements
It was followed by another dismal defeat against England in the first game of the three-match series. However, Pakistan bounced back in style and won the next two Tests to win the series.
Soon after the victory against England, Jason Gillespie was also named as Pakistan's white-ball coach after Gary Kirsten resigned from his post in a mysterious fashion.

Jason Gillespie went to Australia as white-ball coach
Gillespie started his reign as Pakistan's white-ball coach in a stunning fashion. In his first assignment, Pakistan came from behind to beat Australia 2-1 in the three-match ODI series. It was Pakistan's first ODI series win in Australia since 2002.
While the results have been very promising in recent times under Gillespie, reports state that the PCB is likely to part ways with him in the coming days.
According to GEO News, the PCB does not want a foreigner as the head coach of the side. The news outlet has also stated that while PCB is against appointing a foreigner as the head coach, the support staff is likely to have a number of overseas individuals. Even though Gillespie's two-year contract began just a couple of months ago, it is likely to be terminated soon by the PCB.

Jason Gillespie is unhappy with PCB:
One of the reasons behind PCB's discontent with Jason Gillespie could be the former Australia player's decision to criticize the board publicly. Last month, Gillespie vented his frustration over the reduced scope of his job. His comments came after he was removed from the selection panel.
"I think there's always frustrations from time to time. For me, when I came on board with Pakistan cricket, I was told there was a long-term plan, and we need to make sure our communication's spot on. I made that a real focus and so you can get frustrated if those things aren't done how you would like," Gillespie had told Sky Sports.
"It wasn't what I signed up for, I'll be completely honest. But this is one of those situations in which you just need to go with the flow. As I said, I'm in a different environment and things are done differently. One can agree or disagree with how things are done, but ultimately I'm here to help the Pakistan team do well, help the players get better, improve. So I've put all my focus and energy into that," he added.
