The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) wrote to the International Cricket Council (ICC) after Pakistan’s name was omitted from the Champions Trophy logo during the live broadcast. Notably, the ICC informed PCB that the omission was due to an early technical error, but PCB remains dissatisfied with this explanation.

During the India vs. Bangladesh Group A match in Dubai, the Champions Trophy 2025 logo did not include Pakistan's name. The omission remained throughout the match, which India won by six wickets. Normally, the tournament logo in the top left corner of the screen features the host nation's name.

ICC Explanation Fails to Satisfy PCB Over Pakistan's Name Missing From Logo

There were no issues with the broadcast graphics during the match between Pakistan and New Zealand in Karachi. However, Pakistan’s name was omitted from the on-screen tournament logo during the second match. Notably, the match between Afghanistan and South Africa displayed all the details properly.

According to a report by ESPN Cricinfo, the PCB is unhappy with the situation and has sought assurances that it will not be repeated. The International Cricket Council informally attributed the issue to an early technical error, but the explanation did not satisfy the PCB.

Graphics for the live feed—produced by UK-based Sunset & Vine under ICC supervision—are prepared well in advance. The PCB remains unconvinced about why Pakistan’s name was omitted during the India-Bangladesh match despite being present in the opening match of the marquee tournament.

ICC Attributes Incident to Technical Glitch

The report further added that the ICC has stated the omission was caused by a technical glitch and assured that it will not happen again in any future matches, whether in Pakistan or the UAE. The next fixture in the UAE is highly anticipated, as India will face tournament hosts Pakistan in Dubai on Sunday.

It all started when the BCCI informed the PCB that the Indian government would not allow Team India to travel to Pakistan. The Men in Blue wanted to play their matches at a neutral venue rather than in Pakistan.

After discussions between the PCB, BCCI, and ICC, it was decided that India would not play in Pakistan, even if they reached the final, with their matches set to take place in Dubai. Pakistan will also not travel to India for any ICC events over the next three years, with their games scheduled at neutral venues.

Pakistan Leads India in Champions Trophy Head-to-Head Record

India and Pakistan are set to face off in their next Group A match in Dubai on Sunday. Pakistan must win to stay in contention after suffering a 60-run defeat to New Zealand in their opening match.

The Men in Green holds a 3-2 head-to-head advantage over India in the Champions Trophy. They beat India in the 2017 final, where they secured victory by 180 runs. Pakistan will head into this match with a strong record.

Speaking ahead of the match, Yuvraj said on JioHotstar's 'Greatest Rivalry Returns' program, "I actually think Pakistan has an advantage because they have a base in Dubai. They have played a lot of cricket there and understand the conditions well."
