ICC Champions Trophy 2025: PM Modi to intervene as ex-PCB chief makes bold claim on India's Pakistan visit

Former Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Najam Sethi dropped a massive statement on India's participation in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 in Pakistan. He said that if Nawaz Sharif personally talks to PM Narendra Modi then there are high chances of Men in Blue coming to Pakistan.

India National Cricket Team have denied traveling to Pakistan for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. The BCCI has conveyed to the International Cricket Council that they won't be going to Pakistan due to security reasons and hence, they should try to host the tournament in a Hybrid model.

Things surely are heating up between the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) related to the venue for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. With the tournament around the corner, there is a lot of uncertainty over the schedule as well as the venue.

Amid all this, Najam Sethi revealed that he had got a lot of signals from India and claimed that if Nawaz Sharif spoke directly to India's PM, then there would be a high chance of India visiting Pakistan for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. Speaking to a local news channel, he explained:

"I got some signals from India, and if Nawaz Sharif personally talks to Narendra Modi, there's a bright chance of India travelling to Pakistan for the Champions Trophy next year."

I wanted the Pakistan team to play the 2023 World Cup on a Hybrid Model - Najam Sethi

Najam Sethi further mentioned that he had conversations with BCCI Secretary Jay Shah and ICC Chairman Greg Barclay last year before the Asia Cup. He claimed that he wanted the ICC World Cup 2023 to be held in Hybrid model too but Zaka Ashraf sent the team to India. He explained:

"I met Jay Shah & ICC chief Greg Barclay last year before Asia Cup, and I told them to accept the Hybrid Model. I wanted the Pakistan team to play the 2023 World Cup on a Hybrid Model too, but the PCB chairman changed, and Zaka Ashraf sent the team to India."

The ICC Champions Trophy 2025 is originally slated to take place in Pakistan in February-March next year. The trophy tour too has begun and it is expected that the schedule of the tournament will be announced soon. The tour started in Pakistan today and trophy will travel to all 8 participating nations.
