India National Cricket Team player Rohit Sharma is in his last days as a leader of the team. As per the reports in Dainik Jagran, it is learned that BCCI and team management have decided that the senior opener will remain captain till the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 only.
Rohit Sharma, who is under massive scanner as a leader as well as the batter, is currently captaining the team in the ongoing England series. Following this, he will be leading the India National Cricket Team in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, which will be played from 19th February to 9th March.

Rohit Sharma might even opt out of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 owing to his poor form
Rohit, in the last few months, has not been able to lead from the front like he did in most of his captaincy career. The senior opener has experienced a massive decline in his form, and this has raised a lot of questions about his place in the team.
Recently, there were reports that claimed that Rohit might even opt out of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 owing to his poor form. It was learned that if batter fails to score runs in the last two games of the ODI series against England then he will make himself unavailable for the tournament.
Hardik Pandya to captain India if Rohit Sharma pulls out of ICC Champions Trophy 2025
It was also reported that if Rohit Sharma pulls out of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 then Hardik Pandya will be named as captain. The all-rounder was the vice-captain of the team in the ICC World Cup 2023 and also the ICC T20 World 2024 before he was removed from the leadership group.
Rohit looked scratchy in the first ODI against England. The India captain could manage just 2 runs as he didn't time his flick and was caught inside the circle. Following this, he came under more scanner, and even after that, in the nets ahead of the second ODI, he looked clueless.
Rohit Sharma reportedly got out to local bowlers in the nets ahead of the second ODI against England
Rohit reportedly got out to local net bowlers multiple times and the ongoing match against England will be extremely important for him. The batter himself would want to get some runs under his belt so that he gains confidence ahead of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, where India will play in Dubai.
After winning the T20 World Cup 2024 as a captain, nothing has gone in favour of Rohit Sharma. Under him, India lost the ODI series to Sri Lanka for the first time in 27 years. He looked in great form in that series as he scored two fifties in three games in the series.
After that, India, under him, suffered a 3-0 whitewash against New Zealand in Tests at home. If this was not enough, Rohit failed as a captain in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 as well and visitors faced a 3-1 thrashing. He also managed just 31 runs in the series.
