India National Cricket Team batter Virat Kohli is all set to miss the Ranji Trophy 2024-25 game for Delhi against Saurashtra in Rajkot. As per the reports in ESPNCricinfo, it is learned that the batter has conveyed to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) about his decision.

Virat Kohli will be missing the game due to the troubles that he has been facing with his neck. The India National Cricket Team batter reportedly has been having neck pain and took the injection for the same on January 8, three days after the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 ended in Sydney.

Hence, he has been ruled out of the match for Delhi against Saurashtra, which will be played from 23rd January. Several reports claimed that he would be playing for the state team, but that all has been put to rest.

On the other hand, KL Rahul, too, will be missing the game against Karnataka in the Ranji Trophy 2024-25. He won't be playing the game against Punjab, which will begin on 23rd January. He has been experiencing some elbow issues and won't be fit to take part in the game for Karnataka.

The BCCI recently made things tough for the Indian cricketers and issued guidelines for dos and don'ts. One among them is mandatory participation in domestic cricket for the players. However, if he is unavailable to play, he will need permission from the national chairman of selectors.

The Ranji Trophy 2024-25 game would have been extremely crucial for both the batters, especially Virat Kohli, who struggled with his form of late in Tests. He looked torrid with the bat in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25, barring the game in Perth, which was the first game of the series.

Virat Kohli scored just 190 runs in the series and got out in a similar fashion to the balls outside off. Overall, since the last few years in Tests, he hasn't been at his best and has been getting out in low scores, which also has seen a massive dip in his average.

On the other hand, KL Rahul had a decent outing in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25. He played as an opener and played a few good innings for the team but couldn't maintain consistency as he failed in the last two games, which were crucial in the context of the game.

Among the Test regulars who will feature in the next Ranji Trophy round are Rishabh Pant (Delhi), Shubman Gill (Punjab) and Ravindra Jadeja (Saurashtra).
