The ICC Champions Trophy 2025 on Monday (24th February) was host to Bangladesh vs New Zealand at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium in Rawalpindi. The Black Caps are through to the semi-final after they beat the opposition by five wickets to mark their second win.
Asked to bat, Bangladesh had a decent start to their innings as Tanzid Hasan (24) and Najmul Hossain Shanto (77) looked good in the powerplay and added 48 runs for the opening partnership, and it seemed that they would post on a big total on the board.

But, after that, the poor shot selection of the Bangladesh Team brought their downfall. Skipper Shanto held the one-end hand and hit a vital half-century but hardly got any support. Mehidy Hasan Miraz (13), Towhid Hridoy (7), Mushfiqur Rahim (2), and Mahmudullah (4) gifted their wickets as Bangladesh was left reeling at 118 for five.
But Jaker Ali (45) provided support to the skipper as the duo added 45 runs for the fifth wicket. Rishad Hossain (26) also played a decent hand that took Bangladesh a total of 236 for nine. For New Zealand, Michael Bracewell was the pick of the bowlers with his figures of 4/26.
Rachin Ravindra slams ton to take New Zealand to the semi-final of the ICC Champions Trophy
In the chase, New Zealand were off to the worst possible start with the bat as Will Young bagged a six-ball duck and Kane Williamson (5) fell for a low score, leaving the Black Caps at 15 for two inside the first four overs.
But Devon Conway (30), along with Rachin Ravindra (112), brought the team slightly back in the game with their 57-run stand for the third wicket. However, then it was all about New Zealand as Rachin, along with Tom Latham (55), stitched 129 runs for the fourth wicket to take the game away from Bangladesh.
Although both Rachin and Latham lost their wickets quickly, Glenn Phillips (21), in the end, played a crucial hand as New Zealand chased the target with five wickets in hand and booked their berth in the semi-final. With their win, India also qualified while Pakistan and Bangladesh were eliminated from the ICC Champions Trophy 2025
