The 9th match of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 was set to be played between the Mohammad Rizwan-led Pakistan National Cricket Team and Najmul Hossain Shanto-led Bangladesh National Cricket Team.
The match between the Group A teams - Pakistan and Bangladesh - was set to be hosted by the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium on Thursday, February 27.

Pakistan vs Bangladesh ICC Champions Trophy match gets washed out
The Men In Green and the Bangla Tigers were set to lock horns with each other for the first time in a Champions Trophy match. However, the play was not possible due to continuous rain in the city.
Pakistan headed into the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 match against Bangladesh on the back of losses against India and New Zealand by 6 wickets and 60 runs.
Similarly, Bangladesh entered the match after facing defeats at the hands of New Zealand by 5 wickets and India by 6 wickets. The match was a dead rubber as both the teams had already been knocked out of the competition.
Both the teams were looking to finish their tournament on a high, but the weather didn't allow the play to get underway. Even before the match started, there were expectations that the match could get abandoned due to rain.
Exactly that happened as the rain got heavy in Rawalpindi and without the toss, the match was called off. Meanwhile, Pakistan and Bangladesh ended their ICC Champions Trophy campaigns with a solitary point.

Ahead of Pakistan vs Bangladesh clash, the Bangla Tigers were at the No.3 with 0 points and a Net Run Rate of -0.443, and the Men In Green were at the No.4 spot with 0 points and a Net Run Rate of -1.087 in the Group A points table.
After the washout, both the teams have remained at the same positions with New Zealand and India being in the No.1 and No.2 spots with a Net Run Rate of 0.863 and 0.647.
Talking about the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 Group B points table, South Africa and Australia occupy the No.1 and No.2 spots with 3 points each and a Net Run Rate of 2.140 and 0.475. Following them on the standings are Afghanistan and England.

What happened in the previous ODI match between Pakistan and Bangladesh?
The last ODI match between Pakistan and Bangladesh was held on October 31 at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata during the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023. Pakistan emerged victorious in the match by 7 wickets as they chased down the target of 205 in just 32.3 overs.
While batting first, Bangladesh struggled against Pakistan’s pace attack. Shaheen Afridi struck early, dismissing Tanzid Hasan for a duck and Najmul Hossain Shanto soon after.
Then, Haris Rauf and Mohammad Wasim joined the attack, bundling out Bangladesh for 204 runs in 45.1 overs. Shaheen Afridi (3/23) and Mohammad Wasim (3/31) picked up a three-wicket haul while Haris Rauf bagged two wickets. Also, Iftikhar Ahmed and Usama Mir chipped in with one wicket each.
For the Tigers, Mahmudullah top-scored with 56, while the star players Litton Das and Shakib Al Hasan contributed 45 and 43 runs, respectively, to help their team reach a decent total.
Chasing the target, the Men In Green were led by an explosive 81-run knock from the veteran opener Fakhar Zaman, who smashed seven sixes and three fours.
The young Abdullah Shafique provided him with solid support with his 68-run knock, building up a 128-run opening stand. After the openers, as well as Babar Azam, got out, Mohammad Rizwan and Iftikhar Ahmed steered Pakistan to a win with 105 balls to spare.
For Bangladesh, Mehidy Hasan Miraz was the only successful bowler as he bagged all three wickets.
