ICC Development Awards 2024 winners announced; USA, Bhutan and Vanuatu win big

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced the global winners of the ICC Development Awards 2024, recognizing efforts to grow cricket across the world. This year’s ICC Development Awards included a new category—the ICC X Rexona Criiio Festival of the Year.

A total of seven awards were given out to Associate Members for their outstanding work in promoting the sport across the world. The top winners of the ICC Development Awards 2024 are Bhutan, Indonesia, Namibia, Nepal, Scotland, Tanzania, the USA, and Vanuatu.

Notably, the Development Awards were launched in 2002 to celebrate the innovation and initiative of the game’s Associate Members, “leading the growth of the sport around the world.”

ICC Development Awards 2025 Categories:

ICC Development Initiative of the Year –

This award goes to an associate member who carried out an excellent cricket development program during the year. It could be a program where people took part in person or one that was run digitally.

ICC Development Initiative of the Year Winner – Cricket Namibia

The African country won the award for its Ashburton Kwata Mini-Cricket Programme. This program plays a key role in growing the sport in Namibia. It is now part of physical education classes in public schools, helping thousands of students in 14 regions learn and enjoy cricket.

ICC Female Cricket Initiative of the Year–

This award celebrates the best effort by an Associate Member to grow women’s cricket, through either on-ground programs or online activities during the year.

ICC Female Cricket Initiative of the Year Winner – Bhutan Cricket Council Board and Vanuatu Cricket Association

For the first time, two winners were given the ICC Female Cricket Initiative of the Year. The Bhutan Cricket Council Board has been recognized for its Inter-School Girls’ Competition, a program designed to increase girls’ participation in cricket.

On the other hand, the Vanuatu Cricket Association has been honored for its “Picking Wickets” program, which provides remote and in-person coaching.

ICC Associate Member Men’s Team Performance of the Year –

This award goes to the best on-field performance by a men’s team from an Associate Member in an ICC tournament or a bilateral series during the year.

ICC Associate Member Men’s Performance of the Year Winner – USA Cricket

The USA won the award for their impressive performance in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024. Last year, they shocked Pakistan and made it to the Super Eight stage of the ICC event.

ICC Associate Member Women’s Team Performance of the Year–

This award goes to the best on-field performance by a women’s team from an Associate Member in an ICC event or bilateral series during the year.

ICC Associate Member Women’s Performance of the Year Winner – Cricket Scotland

Scotland won this award for their impressive performances in 2024. They made history by qualifying for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup for the first time after a strong showing in the Qualifier.

ICC Digital Fan Engagement of the Year –

This award recognizes an Associate Member’s creative use of digital platforms, campaigns, or technology to connect with fans and grow the cricket community during the year.

ICC Digital Fan Engagement of the Year Winner – Cricket Association of Nepal

ICC Cricket 4 Good Social Impact Initiative of the Year –

This award honors a project that used cricket to bring positive change in areas like health, education, or community support.

Cricket 4 Good Social Impact Initiative of the Year Winner – Persatuan Cricket Indonesia

Persatuan Cricket Indonesia won this award for their “Cricket for Confidence” movement.

ICC Crio Cricket Festival of the Year with Rexona –

This award acknowledges the festival by an ICC Associate Member that boosted women’s cricket, increased participation, and created a lasting impact through the ICC Criiio Cricket Festival pilot program 2024.
