International Cricket Council (ICC) is trying its best to get Cricket included in Olympics. International Olympic Committee had excluded Cricket from the provisional list for Los Angeles 2028 Olympics. Cricket’s only participation had come in 1990 Paris.
We all know Cricket is Famous but it’s not that popular across the globe. In the last 5 years, ICC has given status to a lot of countries and we can see a lot of European Countries participating in the sport and others too. It is assumed that the T20 format would be used in the Olympics as the game gets wrapped up in 3 hours.

ICC’s Proposal to Olympics
ICC had a virtual presentation to Los Angeles 2028 and not to International Olympics Committee (IOC) last week and stated that Cricket’s inclusion can bring a billion fans. ICC pointed out that Former India Captain Virat Kohli & Legendary Mithali Raj were quite popular around the globe. ICC also said that Cricket is popular in South Asia which can help in Olympics.

ICC On LA28 Olympics
The ICC statement read, “The review process for potential new sports for the LA28 Olympic sports program is ongoing. We are continuing to learn more ahead of the sports proposal submission to the IOC next year.” said in a statement.

A lot of other sports like Karate, Baseball, Softball, Kickboxing, Squash, American Football, Lacrosse & Break Dancing are on the list. The road to ICC is a bit steep one.
It would be interesting to see what happens the next year when World Cricket would be eagerly waiting for the sport to become a global one. It looks like IOC is not interested in Cricket. It would require a miracle to see ICC in Olympics as their biggest competitor is baseball.
